Is anyone else having problems going into quick race and advanced mode, when i try im getting the following message.Hrace.exe has stopped working a problem caused this programme to stop working.Does anyone know how i can fix this.
Try the following, it worked for me: Uninstall the game entirely, open internet and go to horseracegame.com and re-install the game where it says "play now", at the end of the install you log in under your username and password. Everything works as it should now. You will lose PP's, and you'll have to go into the community site and re-send the trainer game races you wish to have in your game. Not sure, but this may have something to do with Vista.
Same negative things happening to me too. Laptop with Windows 7 and Desktop with Vista. I don't feel that it has anything to do with operating system. It was said that we wouldn't have to delete data and start over, but apparently some of us will. Why some and not all is a puzzler to me????
I'm wondering, if I sit tight, will things get worked out? Or, do I definetly have to delete old game and start fresh? I'll sit tight and wait for awhile. Wouldn't it be nice if we could delete and satrt over without lossing our past performance statistics. That's hundreds of hours of trining goig odwn the drain. Frustrating.
LOST ALL MY PPS ON MY HORSES AND ALSO PPS IN PRIVATE MODE WHEN TRYING TO EARN POINTS ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO RETRIEVE EVERYTHING ELSE FINE SINCE REINSTALLING
Got both computers off and running, after first un-installing, then re-installing. I lost all p.p. data and all retired horse files. Everything else seems up to par.
Puddles said you csn get to it from our profile page. However, I don't see where we're able to start a new post. Is that something we can't do now??? Does anyone know???
you will never get your retired horses back, Ive never understood this at all...Why we cannot keep a retired horse is strange but sadly true..it would be like buying a house and after the city updates the sewer system your house vanishes...still scratching my head on this one
Guys, your past performances are saved in a file called HRFan.mdb. Do a search for that file before you uninstall the game, copy it to your desktop or somewhere safe, then uninstall and reinstall.
Then put the file back into:
XP users- c:\documents and settings\yourprofile\application data\HRsim\HRfan
Vista and Windows 7 users: c:\users\yourprofile\appdata\roaming\HRsim\HRfan
Unless the new patch is not compatible with the older database, you should get everything back as far as PPs.
Gosh, you'd think HRF techs could have clued us in. They should have known. You lose everything in all of your horse files. Not just your stable files. Plus all of your retired horses. That's a lot of hard work gone forever. Sounds like all for naught. I wonder if they'll ever figure out why some had to do this and some didn't to make the new version work???
I don't know if they want people doing what I suggested. There used to be an option from the main menu, under 'file' that said 'backup database', but it disappeared several patches ago.
I have to agree with you, everytime we have an update, woosh everything gone ....Every time we get the same spin .."this will be a smooth transition and there will be no issues with lost files etc etc". Yet there is and the solution proffered? Uninstall..reinstall..all records lost... all retired horses lost.. Players have solutions to some of the issues (thanks MOJO)..HRF doesn't seem to give a straight banana...Technically they seem very third world. You try and stay positive, look on the good side and there is plenty of that, but every step forward seems really more like two steps back.. I am particularly mystified why my investment of 500,000 points in the form of my retired horses is now gone and a vital training resource is lost because HRF doesn't do the little things well, doesn't seem to want to listen to the majority of players who have asked for this particular raught to cease .
HRF NB: There are two types of people in this world....
The givers who ask what's in me for you? and
The takers who ask what's in it for me?
Im sorry to say that HRF Is becomming deeper and deeper burried in the latter category and that is a great pity.
I have been a member for over 2 years, and anyone can tell you I have never understood why a simple program cant be implemented to save our Past Performances and mainly our Retired horses that we spent alot of money on...No, not everyone wants those things or thinks they are important, but we should have a choice to save those files if we want, we paid for them right? .....Please HRF, design a way to save these files....that should be the simplest thing you could ever program.......
Right on target. I think it was before the trainer game started that this happened to me. And during the trainer game with the last version release. I was disapointed and frustrated, but merely started over, and moved on rather than dwell on it. That's how I felt today. But it's different now.
This time around. I've put in a lot of time, (much more time)as we all have, trying to learn this often difficult task of knowing how to train your stable horses and proper placement of them, etc.
I had compiled quite a data base. We all have. I was creating some races today, when I realised, that I don't have any data for any horse in the many files that I've purchased and use daily in my practice sessions.
I was wrong, thinking it was just my stable file data that was lost. I lost everything. It's like going back to square one. Literally. These files are very important and the backbone of trying to become a good trainer.
Now, I have little to go by. I looked at my stable file, as one would look at a racing form and at a glance could see just about everything you need to know in placing your horses. That's what the training game is all about. Kind of defeats the purpose when you build up this data for more than a year, to lose it forever and start from scratch. I ask myself why???
There surely has to be a way to set things up, as Ruffiano says, where this won't happen again. I think it's good and healthy to talk about it now, else this idea/suggestion will most likely never happen. HRF needs to have an emergency backup plan, just as B.P. should have had. You have to be prepared for the worse. IMHO
I think HRF should give all the trainers one free horse for loosing all their pp stats.Just a thaught.I know it wont make up for loosing all that info but its a start.
I remember a post by Puddles from a few weeks back ... something to the effect
that players storing to much data causes the program to function less efficiently.
I have been clearing the data from my game on a regular basis. I just store the
horses preferences on a excell spreadsheet. Then run the final track, distance
and surface of the tournie I am interested in several times before entering the
horse.
I am running vista, had very little data stored and had no trouble with the update.
Sam
Ps. My donkey horses are now running like quarter horses. Maybe on the next update
they will actually run like thoroughbreds ?
I have on a few of my horses in training them today, but maybe its just me,have a look at on of your horses that you are quiet familiar with and see if it runs as it did before.
What I have noticed and don't like, is the big billboard advertisements that are seen everywhere throughout the entire race. For me (my eyes), this is very annoying (distraction) and overdone. Sorry, HRF.
Too much Emphasis on advertising, and not enough on actual game improvements/updates....Im talking about the game program itself , not webpage designs and advertising.....are we ever going to see any physical upgrades? like blinkers/bandages/ear cones/etc , how about adding something to the horses to make them look different or updated....tracks that resemble real tracks....ways to move horse files around and name them ..example (Barn A - Barn B - Barn - C) .....ways to save your trainer horses to disk, and past performances, being able to breed to your own horses .....everything that gets updated is the advertising side, I know that important and all, but isnt those thngs I mentioned a good Idea too for the players? 2 years of Ideas and not any noticable updates, except for the some tourney changes, mentor stuff, bonus point features, quarterly award winners lol....I would like to see the actual game program updated with the Ideas we have all had for 2 years....
If an update was needed to keep the game rolling, then so be it. Who cares about lost data and old corpses in the retired file. Flyingdaaka has each and every one of his horses memorized by now, as well as a spreadsheet with data and copious notes. Flyingdaaka also has a detailed group of horses used for training, depending on surface/distance. Don't you people train and pay attention to what you see ??? Well, its obvious that some don't, but geezazz.
One of the games greats made a comment to Flyingdaaka and that player was 100% on the money. The comment was that you people want everything handed to you in the game. That assessment was right on target for most of you.

I actually remove data all the time because it's useless to me for the simple fact your horses change all the time as they age.
