We are all aware of Flyingdaaka. What's your point?

Why are parents letting their kids get on adult gambling sites...I wouldnt want my kids to be on a site, that promoted gambling, unless I was prepared for them to not only gamble but to see riske language. I guess I wouldnt consider this a family site, does anyone else? I mean I wouldnt take my kids to Hooters and expect my waitress to put a jacket on...I wouldnt go to Dicks and expect the waiters to be polite to my table...I wouldnt take them to a grill and bar and tell them to quit server while I was there...I wouldnt take them to a horse track and tell them to quit gambling and smoking...I wouldnt take them to an R movie and complain there was boobies and cussing in it...I wouldnt buy HBO and expect them to only put on family tv...I wouldnt listen to syndicated radio and expect them to only play things that are "healthy" for me and my family to listen to... I would go to a different place to eat, watch different movie, hang out at a kid friendly place, parental block my TV, turn the channel, turn the station...You get the point. Just a thought!

who just love horses and like to play the game. It's not really gambling, if you're a cash poor horse crazy girl who likes to see how well she can play the game for free.

I'm just thinking there have to be more eloquent ways for adult people to express righteous anger, with a little self-control and creativity. We can teach these kids something that way. And then the posts don't get pulled when the language goes off the deep end.

And Jaycat, my fuzzy buddy, the point is at the top of my head, where I usually keep it, of course. ;)

This is in no way to start an arguement, but it is a gambling site. Challange buddy, you put a credit card down to get points to risk winning more points...I have not seen anywhere that you can enter free tournys, if there I havent seen it. So that is actually the def of gambling...risking something of value to recieve something of larger value or possibly losing. If I enter my horse in any tourny, I am gambling. So for the kids sake we should get them outta here so they dont turn degenrate. As far as language goes, what one person says may be offensive to some and not to others...who draws that line? is it ok to say ass or damn these are both said on public tv. Is it ok to say bitch or bastard? these are other words used commonly...now the f bomb might be offensive to me, I dont like using it here in front of people but who am I to tell someone not to use it. I guess HRF can tell them not to, but if I dont like it, I just turn the page. This is a big hot button topic with me, sorry to unload. But I get sick of parents who say this or that shouldnt be on tv, or radio, or in music, or internet, magazines , whatever...well i always wanted to tell the FCC that if parents dont want their children to see it, then dont let them...turn it off, dont buy the mag, dont buy the channel, or cd, or internet...heres a novel idea, pay attention to what your kids are into and regulate them not the rest of the world. Why do I got to conform to the gentleness of society? Thats offensive to me. Anyway this wasnt directed at you Frosty just general talk, but as you see it is a pet peeve of mine...lol

But you really can play this game for free, on a small scale. I think I bought points once, last fall. You can earn 1000 points a day playing the jockey game, and you can maintain a stable of two horses and still enter cheap red and blue tourneys, and if you save up enough of your 30000 points a month, you can even do a challenge buddy without ever spending a buck. That's what I did before I struck it rich in mentoring. I'm just saying, these players are out there, whether their parents are wise or not.

And I agree, an occasional naughty word about bodily functions isn't a big deal, but paragraph after paragraph of really ugly graphic language like what appeared on one post last night is different. The form I get those updates is such that I never know who wrote what, (unless they have a cute sign off), and Puddles always gets to the really bad posts and deletes them while I'm on my way home to my computer, so I'm not even going to guess who it was; I just thought it was sad, that things would come to that.

And absolutely, parents should monitor everything their kids do online these days. My daughter was doing a report on Japan when she was in first grade, so we searched the web for "Japan" and 7 of the first 10 websites on the list were porn sites.

You took those thoughts right from me. Exactly how I feel. The more we try to hide words from our kids, the more power we give those words. Curse words are meaningless in my house. My kids can say anything they like. There are no taboo words here. And the strongest word either of my kids has used in the last 10 years has been "Damn" a few times.
And the thing that the people who want to censor everything don't understand is this; It may very well be offensive for you to read a word that you don't like, but it is far more offensive to US when other people want to stop us from saying whatever we like. WHY WHY WHY!!!!! I will never ever be able to understand how somebody can say, "I don't like this word, please take the freedom to use this word away from me, and everybody else too!"!!!!

It's far more than a pet peeve with me, Ty. When you take away peoples words you also take away freedom of thought. You take away a person's very consciosness!!! Hasn't anybody read 1984? God! The thought police scare the H E double hockey sticks out of me!!!!!!

And the thing about censorship is this:

Only governments censor, and only the US prohibits that kind of government censorship.

But a private company isn't a government, and a private company that wants to maximize its consumer base has a right to establish and enforce standards, arbitrary or not, to achieve that end.

Then the participants can decide how they will choose to participate or not within those boundaries. Puddles hasn't done anything wrong, it's his perogative as a businessman. And you haven't done anything wrong in objecting, either.

But like I told Ty,

It isn't the occasional f-bomb that causes heartburn. It's the extended graphic tirades that make me wince and move away; even if Puddles hadn't pulled the plug on that thread, I wouldn't have gone back there. Started out pretty hilarious, it was just sad it ended that way.

That is quite correct. I never said Puddles did anything wrong. It is his site and if he wants to delete posts, he is fully in his right to do so. And players are fully in their right to be indignant about it. Or Leave.
I don't particularly care for foul language myself and since I left NYC, I rarely use it. It just makes my hair stand up on end when I'm told I CAN'T say something. We must all fight against this, not just here, but everywhere. If one word is banned, then another will soon be banned too. Then another, and another, and another. Until we are all a bunch of bleating sheep waiting for the slaughter. Ok. I'm done foaming at the mouth.

this site is associated with gambling like it or not we play for points that cost money we pool them and the winners split it .....thats gambling....we discuss betting in the major races and therefore i think we can pretty much declare it an adult site....while foul language is not necessary the reason why we cant use it shouldnt be the kids because they shouldnt really be here ....however i did grow up playing bets at my local race course all be it in Barbados ....i probably was better at it than my father was too lol

When my son was 1 year old I watched as he slept a medically induced sleep for 6 months. The doctors put him under to wait for the end painlessly. Neuroblastoma. "No hope, No chance" we were told. My wife fought like a crazed, maniacal, Banshee to get him into Sloan-Kettering, and she succeded. Dr Laquailia, the best childrens cancer surgeon in the world saved him. He is 16 now and doing fine. His gf is a preachers daughter and he thinks my son is the greatest.

Once you go through something like that, curse words like the F-word, the C-word, the N-word, or the W-word all tend to lose their sting. I would love it if all I had to be worried about was to be offended at a word somebody used. It must be wonderful to live in the world and be surrounded by sunshine, and rainbows, and butterflies all the time.

I think that it is too bad that a few ruin it for the entire community. Management should just block those they determine are abusing the Forums and Blogs. Why punish the entire community?!

Anyone blocked will still have access to PM's, chat and can e-mail support if they need anything.

I dont think blocking all the people who abuse the forums is the answer. Without these people what would you plain donuts have to talk about? I say they should ban all the boring people from the forums. Whens was the last time a plain donut started a thread that alot of community members joined? I would list all the people who I thought were plain donuts but frankly I dont need to tell you something you already know.

JB, do you mind showing us what a plain donut thread looks like? Would you please post a 'Dozen Donuts'?

and you are right when you face something like that nothing else matters

My 13 year old niece is a member. She has been for 2 years. She show jumps and has herself an ex Finger Lakes racer that was horrible and was re-trained to jump. As for the game, she never did anything other thanplay the race game with community horses. I got curious about the game and joined and after exploring what the game is about and
showed her the aspects that she was unaware of. She has been exposed to betting forever. We go to Saratoga and Belmont frequently.
