Not sure about the rest of you, but for me, it's gotta be Silver Charm. None of the others went on to do so well at 4 and 5 like he did. But Smarty Jones comes a close 2nd.
I'm gonna have to go back 21 years and say Sunday Silence, followed by Barbaro if your just talking Derby's, his was the most impressive i've seen in 30 years of watching! If your talking overall career of derby winners, I think Thunder Gulch gets overlooked too much for some reason. He was a fine horse.
Well, you all are right about thae fact that Point Given should've won the Triple Crown. But if there's one horse who should've donw it, it was Silver Charm. He was so close and never saw Touch Gold coming
He what about Unbridled 1990 Ken Derby and BC Classic winner over Summer Squall, great rivalry there. Also i really thought that Barbaro had the most talent but his career ended too soon.
Chill out old man, take a chill pill. You mad? When have I ever asked your advice on anything is that supposed to be an insult? I was merely making sure you knew the title was last 20 years that's all no need to get so mad.

Which Derby winner over the past 20 years, faced the most talented group of horses? You can base it on the accomplishments of the field over their entire career. I'm not naming any horse...and GO!
Thunder Gulch, A Mr Prospector line stallion who won 4 grade ones as a 3yo, was Eclipse champion 3yo and went on to sire Point Given one of the best horses not to win a K Derby. Also responsible for best horse on HRF..... Here comes Thunder??
Unbrideled was a pretty solid horse. But honestly, I think Street Sense was a GREAT horse. Had he ran at 4 he would've gone down as one of the all time greats, I think.
Barbaro. He ran on ALL surfaces with equal success and won the Derby by a big margin! He might have been a Champion of Champions- like Secretariat.....

"And down the stretch they come!..."
Silver Charm was. Then Maybe Barbaro. But Sunday Silence would definetly be it if I could go bake 21 years :P
~The only race she ever lost was the one that took her life~
followed by Street Sense, followed by Grindstone. I've got to put Grindstone in there because I picked him to win the Derby out of his maiden race, which I believe was on July 4, 1995.
I would have to say Funny Cide (since he is from New York and his owners are from Sacketts Harbor), Barbaro, Mine That Bird (coming from last to first), Secretariat, and Winning Colors in 1988.
