Before the new class system, handicap weights were definitely needed, for obvious reasons.
But now, with the Blues and the Generals the way they are, I no longer see a need for handicap weight.

But the system is in place, and I don't think Puddles would be willing to totally scrap it. So I think the best thing to do would be to tighten the weight range to 5 lbs. That way the weights wouldn't cause much controversy.

There is no 100% accurate handicapping in horse racing or horse racing games.

If I recall - I handicapped all my races from the start , with a max of 5lbs between 1st and last , the community did not like that way of handicapping and the community does not like massive weight difference.
The problem is there are too many people on the game who believe they are experts at handicapping. (but really they no everything there is about nothing???) no one playing the game does handicapping as a full time professional job , so no one is an expert.

The question now is (how long will human handicapping last?) a lot have been voted of , a lot have quit , not many more left.

instead of HRF getting complaints finial after finial about computer weights - these complaints are directed towards handicappers. Forums calling out handicappers etc etc.

by 100% i was not refering to accurate in predicting winners. i was refering to 100% of the things to consider when handicapping. THINGS TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION get it--

i think the handicapping is working ok ....disagreements will occur as they do in real live horseracing.....the narrowing of the spread last time was a good change ...just because we have arguments does not mean its not working ..

I was simply stating that besides what we can read about the horse. We can also see in what manor he won- by reviewing the prelims. i dont think the handicappers have the time to do this. this i would consider important in handicapping. are you nit picking the term? 50% ACCURATE HANDICAPPING TAKES MORE THEN 45 MINUTES! Scale weights for all horses expect for the players that start the user name in "V" they get 5lbs more.

General tourneys should work like blues, reds and insta. Enter at your own risks and good luck.

@Suncity, you're correct. If you recall I started a thread when the handicap first came out, proposing that the weight range be narrowed according to the level of the Tourney. In that thread all of this crap was predicted.

Right now the "Top Speed Wins" is the latest controversy.
Blair is correct that when HRF narrowed the current weight ranges a lot of this bickering subsidded. Most people never question the 2yo tourneys because the range is narrow.

So it just makes sense to narrow the ranges for 3&up.
It will allow the handicap program to remain in place and also take the race results out of the handicappers hands.
With most generals running with 125+, there's no need for any horse to be taken out of a final with weight, it's unnecessary now.

Would be Nice!! There really isn't a need for handicapped finals anymore.

Scale weights, or weight variance of 3-5 lbs. Neither one will make a difference. Weight of 15-20 lbs. will impact a race. This should be clear by now, but for you people, you just don't get stuff around here. If you would just simply train your horses, you'd have figured this out eons ago.

A difference in weight of 2lbs heaver or lighter doesn't make two much of a difference.
Comes back to correct placement of horse , correct track , distance , season and post position.
And most important racing luck.

5lbs does or if a new handicapper does not adjust from prelim weights then it can change the result of the finial.

One thing what handicappers get blamed for is the result of the race.
We all have horses what are great in prelims not so good in finials.(finial clunkers)
it all so works the other way round as well – not so good in prelims (great in finials) - Or horses what peak in prelims

At the end of the day – if you don't take the responsibility of placing your horse/horses correctly , you will not win a finial – not with the close hard racing we have now.

IF THE CURRENT HANDICAPPING SYSTEM IS GOING TO WORK?
(A) A good handicapper can not be blamed , for the result of the race. A lot of added factors are at play with finials – like the magic wand (don't like the wand :o( )

(B) Ok to question a handicapper , but not to the level where he/she has to defend every single decision he/she makes , After a while they end up leaving(we dont want that) or smashed them in the forums.

If they have done a bad job on the finial – then racing stewards should have taken care of the race and had it send to the computer before it gets to that stage , or before the finial weights are published That is why we have racing stewards – that is why they where introduced into the game to stop bad handicapping.

C) HRF needs to have good , solid guild lines in place. Tighten up 3yo and the 3yo and 4yo and up finial weights. 3Yo and up racing there can be a difference of 5lb between 3yo and 4yo – 5yo during the prelims – come the finial then can be a 12lb + turn around in weights if prelim weights are not adjusted of.

There are not to many handicappers around after what we have now , and most of the current ones want to quit or give up on handicapping – WE DONT WANT THE COMPUTER TO HANDICAP AGAIN??? who noes what weight you will get. Give the current ones a little bit of a brake – they all have good intentions , they are all doing the best they can most of them are doing a great job for the community and not getting to much in return for it. Lay of the handicappers a bit let hem do there job – and racing stewards will take care of the rest.

Life isn't fair so why make the final race in the general tourneys fair?

There are scaled weights in blues, reds and instas.

Most times when blue and reds horses run there prelims and the final horses are decided they are close to being even. Its the same in general tourneys too. The prelims discard the weaker horses and place the best in the final. You want fair? Then use scale weights in all tourneys.

On a personal note , I do like the weight system in place for blue tournaments , It would suit my stable in Ge tournaments perfect.
But may not suit others?

HRF - wants gen tournaments to be handicapped - they all so need to have good systems in place for it to work and have good handicappers to back the system up.

Suncity you had the perfect saying before " if you want us handicappers to be perfect then hire a professional handicapper". You said something like that and its true.

HRF go hire a professional handicapper. Or go to scale weights. Like I said before the hospital wont let me do open heart surgery on any patients even if I can provide them with a list of names saying I can do it. I told them I am a expert in retrieving the organs out of the chest when I play the game operation. LMAO!

Hire a pro to do it.
