Only problem is Indy Weekend, but it posted the highest SR in the tourney...consider distance of that one prelim to the final. I'm not a handicapper,so what do i know?
I did a few brief calculations and it looks to me like Mdm Ignition and Indyweekend were given too much weight (2-3 pounds). The rest of the field looks OK.
Dusty
Not sure what you're looking for? What's your opinion and reason for posting a link? Like, Dusty, I looked briefly but will get back to this Final later today to see what I come up with. My quick glance at Indy Weekend shows a consistant horse with 40% wins and 70% in the money. Possibly the weight is appropriate. I don't know. I will know more after I analize all entrys.
I have a hunch that we will eventually get back to computer handicapping. I feel that it's a better method, but has to be re-programmed. The old computer handciapping method sucks and everybody knows it. That doesn't mean that it can't be fixed. It could and should be fixed.
Indyweekend and Oasis Nirvana are not weighted correctly. This is a very wide open race so I expected the weights to be in a short range. Bd Gilligan should be top weight and On Top the low weight. You can group 2-3 of these horses together and weight them the same or 1 lbs difference. Mdm Ignition should be 2nd weight about 2 lbs off. You can place Oasis Nirvana, Power Mouse, Wars Rainbow, and Indyweekend together. They should be 3-4 lbs off. Bd Too Late should be 1 lbs more than On Top. Just an opinion. Wide open race, though!
My picks: Oasis Nirvana and Power Mouse in exacta.
Indyweekend posted the highest SR for the tournament at 158.1. Second top weight assigned 119
Mdm Ignition posted the second highest SR for the tournament at 154.4. Third top weight assigned 118
Bd Gilligan posted the lowest of the three with its highest SR for the tournament at 152.1. Top weight assigned 120
Bd Gilligan, the most consistent of the three posted SR’s of 150.9, 150.8 and 152.1 for an average of 151.266.
Bd Gilligan’s best SR is bettered by Indyweekend’s (158.1 -152.1= 6) by 6 SR points.
Bd Gilligan’s best SR is bettered by Mdm Ignition’s (154.4 -152.1= 2.3) by 2.3 SR points.
Bd Gilligan is acknowledged as the favorite and top weight based upon his consistency rather than which horse ran the fastest. The evidence shows that although it maybe consistent, it has not shown that if the other two run their best races the Final may very well end as noted above by the best SR’s achieved by the entrants in the tournament.
I think that based upon the information noted, the weight distribution for this final is fair.
But remember 20 people could cap a race and you get 20 different results, not being critical just giving you my numbers...

This race is so wide open that the weights can go a ton of different ways and I can't argue with you guys, but my opinion was much like richardmacias' because Bd Gilligan was much more consistent than any other horse in the field and Indyweekend was also the highest SR of the tournament as well as the second highest avg SR.
Bd Gilligan final weight 120lbs
Indyweekend final weight 119lbs
Why did Bd Gilligan the favorite gets a negative 2lb break?
Why did Indyweekend 2nd choice gets 0lb break?
If your saying Bd Gilligan is better, then how can a better horse get a negative weight break to the 2nd choice Indyweekend?
If you saying the high weight is 120lbs?
Then you must bring Indyweekend down the same 2lbs to 117lbs, then handicapped the race.
That would bring Indyweekend lower than 117lbs, so you are at least 2lbs + off what you handicapped.
"richardmacias Bd Gilligan is acknowledged as the favorite and top weight based upon his consistency rather than which horse ran the fastest."
Wrong, Bd Gilligan may look like top weight at 120lbs vs Indyweekend at 119lbs.
But really Indyweekend is top weight. No weight break for Indyweekend. But 2lb break for Bd Gilligan.
"richardmacias I think that based upon the information noted, the weight distribution for this final is fair."
Wrong, you cant do simple math. Then you make a story about your mistakes and then call it fair? I think not.
Well it might have been in question, but it doesn't really matter does it? I haven't seen much happen when a steward brings a race to the forum and ask for opinion on a specific race. For BS post made by Richard and the general, I think your only allowed to post a one BS post in any given thread. Because neither has came back to this thread and reposted a argument to there orginal BS post.
General dont stamp your name on a race if your not going to explain yourself and choose to hide behind someone elses opinion. You handicapped this race and the community ask for your opinion not giving one shows you lack of respect for the community.
I cant tell who wins this final. But I can tell you the handicapped weights we off on almost all horses.
For Flyingdaaka yes it may be 3lbs, but 3lbs for the wrong horse. How about you take that 3lbs and pound it up your ###, LOL.
do u guys handicap off of the best race run by a horse in prelims or the average speed rating .......it seems to me if u use the best ,then the average then the average excluding clunkers they will all be different ...is there time to do all three and then settle on ur final position.......? my point being i myself have been vocal about the handicapping but we gotta allow the handicappers some wiggle room.....the races have a way of vindicating the handicappers sometimes and then like most horse racing every now and then u see a result that suggests the race was run on another planet
When this race was brought to my attention and carefully going over it i thought the two favorites weight was off. I was wondering why the favorite got a weight break and second best had no weight change. Seemed odd to me but it is now in HRF hands on what if anything they decide to do about it. Thanks for the feedback!!

Indyweekend would ordnarilly have no problem with his weight assignment (119), however, as a real life handicapper, I don't think he could get the 10 furlongs. This will actually help the favorite, Bd Gilligan. Good bet in the Challenge. Even if you gave, Indyweekend a few more pounds off, I just think the added distance will kill him and a further break in the weights won't help him at all. He's unproven, whereas, Bd Gilligan has proven himself. The longer races.
Gosh, there's a lightly raced ( 3 outings ) 20 -1 shot in the field that already won at 10 fulongs. He could easily finish ahead of, Indy. I forget his name. Do I like Indyweekend?? You bet I do. But at shorter distances. I wish all horses and their trainers the best of luck in this Final. A tough one.
King of the Sandbaggers? Wells Fargo has either been grossly mishandled or is really not one of this games great horses. Of the 11 purses Wells Fargo has won, only four have paid over 74,800 points! Compare the career stats of the 6 year old Wells Fargo $6,400,000 and (only) 1,486,480 points earned in 53 races to the 8 purses that the 4 year old Lord Outstanding $6,862.500 and 1,792,780 points, with 7 of 8 being 124,520 points and up in 43 races. This indicates that Lord Outstanding has run and won in the big tournaments and that Wells Fargo has not. Don't the best horses run in the big tournaments? Of the 53 races run by Wells Fargo, minus the 11 Finals or 42 tournament prelim races, only 10 have been G1 races. That is less than 25%. This shows that Wells Fargo has indeed avoided running against the best horses in this game. Only as a 3 year old did Wells Fargo run G1 races and win 3 big payout tournaments. Ever sense this horse has mostly been running in G3 and G2 races. This is the owners choice. The question is does this make Wells Fargo one of the games great horses or king of the sandbaggers?
In the (De Niro) 9f dirt, sloppy prelim race Bd Gilligan 5/2 beat Indyweekend 4/1 by 12 lengths. Power Mouse 10/1 has a better chance to steal this one than does Indyweekend 4/1
I am not upset at losing today's finals. Heck running second to Wells Fargo is a honor. Wells Fargo is a great horse. How much better could he have been running more G1's races? You the owner know the answer better than anyone. Why after his great 3 year old season, winning everything at G1, did you choose to run him in so many G3's and G2's as a 4, 5 and 6 year old? What was this horse's maximum potential? Will we ever know? These were my questions, not that Wells Fargo is not a great horse, because there is no question that he is. Wells Fargo, holding 12 track records is awesome.
I'm New here and I do not want to Upset or say the wrong thing here but how is it possible that every horse in this final got a weight reduction and mine(Indyweekend) remained the same?????
If this race runs like it is I guarantee you I will run dead last going 10F
It just does not make any sense at all, after all the effort I put in it, my horse has absolutely no chance on competing in this one.

<<< It just does not make any sense at all, after all the effort I put in it, my horse has absolutely no chance on competing in this one.>>>
Hi, Nick,
Personally I think, Indy Weekend will do ok. I doubt if a few pounds off or on will be the big difference in this race. The 10 furlongs might be too far for, Indy Weekend. That will be the bigger problem. I wish him well, but as a handicapper, I'm concerned about the distance. I hope he proves me wrong. This is merely a judgement call on my part.
Anyway, If you go back to 05/18/2010, Indy Weekend won a race by 3 1/2 lengths that the computer handicapper gave only 100 pounds, allowing him to get a 146 sloppy track speed rating. This race was a Final, btw. All of the horses got low weights. Then on 06/13/2010, Indy won another race on the sloppy track conditions carying 119 pounds. A $200,000 purse and a great 145 speed rating. I'm just comparing the inconsistencys of weight assignments. It might work on your behalf at times. And it might work against you at other times.
Nick, I understand what you're saying, but personally, If , Indy Weekend got several more pounds off, I don't feel that it would help him that much, considering the classic 10 furlong distance of this race. JMO Nothing else. Ok, Indy, prove me wrong.
i UNDERSTAND PERFECTLY THAT MY HORSE WILL STRUGGLE 10F I KNOW, BUT IMO 2 TO 3 LB LESS GOING 10F WOULD HAVE MADE A PRETTY SIGNIFICANT MARGIN AT THE END OF THE RACE MEANING I COULD HAVE GOTTEN IN TO THE MONEY.
THIS WAY MY HORSE WITCH LIKES TO GO TO THE FRONT HAS TO WORK A BIT HARDER TO FINISH I'M HOPING HE GETS BLOCKED FOR THE FIRST 4 OR 5F THAT'S MY ONLY CHANCE BUT THANKS FOR SUGGESTIONS AND KIND WORDS I APPRECIATED. NICK.
It's 40 minutes before the finals and my horse's workout information is still on the race screen under the odds, along with the jockey instructions. Were these items processed and completed???
nice call headie you had more confidence than me lol
This is my first big time tourny winner over 100,000 points!! I had one this weekend get second for 100,000 even. Oasis is a good horse and hopefully we can get her over the million mark one of these days.
7 Oasis Nirvana 2/M L tyolds 114 17 142.30 240,900
1 Wars Rainbow 2/M L oparada 117 6 141.40 109,500

6 On Top 2/F L giorgos73 116 8 136.90 35,040
But everybody knew Indyweekend should have carried less than Oasis Nirvana in this final.
So we can assume that if the handicaps weight were correctly done to begin with than Indyweekend would have won.
General please deposit 188,340pts in Nickvegas account. Since Richard backed your handicapping maybe Richard will pay half of the debt.
Indyweekend did not lose because of the weight, he lost because of the distance. It was too far for him and he didi not perform bad at 4-1 and third is nothing to scoff at especially since he was the SECOND choice not the fav.
ouch...no congrats and no love. oh well it was a huge accomplishment for my stable and I am gonna soak it in..congrats to the other entries, this was one of the most competitive and fun to watch tournments I have participated in.
bettowin98 it would appear that your horses was blocked from coming in by the #2. Its weird the the #2 stayed wide itself and never went in when it could and choose to race 5 wide and killing itself and your horse. Well that was weird and remind me of the jockey for points game that the computer trys a bunch of crap to cause you not to win.
The boss is not around tonight or the 2nd boss the editor of threads. So I guess the threads are yours bettowin98 for a while then I expect then to crack the whip when they return. LMAO!
Your one of The MOST sucessful players in the game !!! How d ya like to be me 2 Wins 12- nds 12- 3rds 12- 4ths I retired alot of 120sr horses cause they cant run more then 95sr no matter what in any race for me ! My horses usually run zig zag from rail to post I lose like 5Ls I lose to 20 1- shots everytime almost in the finals. You Win almost all your races and when Ya lose ONE ya say your LEAVING been cheated , But You'll be here FOREVER Or Until Mike gets sick a being called a Cheat !!@ So Give Me break !!
I first want to congratulate Oasis Nirvana and Wars Rainbow for a great race in witch I had to spot 8lb and 5lb respectively.
What I don't Understand is how General keeps saying that the weight would have not made any difference in the race. How is that possible?
I Think otherwise but that is my Opinion and the Opinion of some of the posts I read in this thread and that's the reason why you got more negative votes than positive on this race.
By the Way I do say that with the most respect.
Just so no one thinks Im too crazy , last night 98BetoWin made his usual Post LOST Rant said he was leaving been cheated yada yada for like the 10 th time , thats what my post was in reference too,

I think Stan says it all. I think he did a good job of handicapping this particular race. Look at his proposed weight assignments above.
Like, Stan said, any of 20 different handicappers would have had it different. Nick said his horse had absolutely no chance in this race due to being asked to carry too much weight. Absoluely no chance whatsoever..
Soundofrum and General said they feel the distance is too far for, Indyweekend. We still feel that way.
Well, Indyweekend ran a wonderful race, almost capturing the win before tiring near end of race. The winner, Oasis Nirvana confirmed his marathon statis, taking his second win at this distance. I congratulate, Tyolds, his trainer and Oasis Nirvana.
I see that, Nick has entered his, Indyweekend in a high end sprint race. A smart distance move in my opinion.
I ENTERED INDYWEEKEND IN A SPRINT BEFORE THIS TOURNAMENT STARTED. THIS ONE WAS THE ONLY OPTION ON SLOP FOR ME AND ALSO BECAUSE SHE WAS TRAINING WELL AT THIS DISTANCE TO MY SURPRISE BECAUSE SHE IS A SPRINTER I WANTED TO SEE HOW FAR SHE COULD GO IN REAL TOURNAMENT.BUT I WANT TO REBUT SOME OF THE COMMENTS HERE I WOULD BET ANYTHING THAT IF I DID NOT HAVE TO GIVE 8LB TO OASIS NIRVANA AND 5LB TO WARS RAINBOW THE FINAL RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN WAY DIFFERENT.
AND I SAY THAT WITH THE MOST RESPECT FOR THE WINNER AND RUNNER UP AND I CONGRATULATE THEM AGAIN GREAT COMPETITION.

Good win by Tyolds!
Of course less weight on Nicks horse and more on Tyolds horse would have made a difference. If not then why handicapped races to begin with?

bettowin98 it would appear that your horses was blocked from coming in by the #2. Its weird the the #2 stayed wide itself and never went in when it could and choose to race 5 wide and killing itself and your horse. Well that was weird and remind me of the jockey for points game that the computer trys a bunch of crap to cause you not to win.

<<< But remember 20 people could cap a race and you get 20 different results, not being critical just giving you my numbers...>>>
Wars Rainbow-117
BD Too Late-114
MDM Ignition-115
BD Gilligan-120
Indyweekend-116
On Top-114
Oasis Nirvana-117
Power Mouse-117
Again just my numbers ....Stan
