GENERAL TOURNAMENTS -
These tournaments have now become our stakes and big point tournaments. I would love if we had a little bit more control in building these out. It would give us more say for our best horses, while freeing up HRF resources. Here is my suggestion. General tournaments are voted on as usual. If they are approved, the trainer that requested the tournament will be given a link to complete the process (and perhaps a time limit to complete) The page to compete the tournament would include drop down menus for completing the tournament:
Seems easy enough to me...What's the down side?
INSTA TOURNAMENTS-
With the tournament outlines, the Insta tournaments do not seem to fit anymore. Why race here? Most will only use it for a dumping ground and put most in 20k Instas. It just doesn't seem to have a place anymore.
My suggestion is to keep the Insta tournament, but make them non-claiming. Keep the 3 races per season...Just fast action and fast points ( I think Ruffiano mentioned something similar once)
AUCTIONS-
Without claiming, they make more since than ever. I think we should make this happen sooner, rather than later.
In many ways the general tournaments in the current game have lost perspective. There seems to be little common sense planning based on the wider community requirements. Viz today there seems likely to be another 5 or 6 cancelled tourneys adding to a growing recent total. In addition tourneys that have been requested and voted in by the community have been arbitrarily cancelled, making a nonsence of the facility.
I agree 100% that player management of them will create a far more valid schedule.
Agree also re the Instras; far too much emphasis and overwhelming dominance as a %of the tourney schedule.
I think this is a great idea. This is one of the things lacking on requesting tournaments. As you have noticed on a few threads my commenting on how we have to depend on HRF to create the tournaments we as traineres have requested. If I request a tournament @ 25,500 to 50 K entry with 3 to 6 races, why should they come back with 3 or 4 races? And why not all Grade 1 races for the entry/flat race fee involved? Currently those decisions/options and input are not available to us. If they can do away with 1 race tournaments then they could include in the drop down menu a request for 5 to 6 races per horse to replace it.
I think that this would keep some trainers for dipping into the lower rated tournaments that get multiple races with many G-1 & 2 races. I also noted that there is a backlog of "Recently Approved Races Waiting to be Published". Your idea would expidite the tournaments in a manner that would allow more time for trainers to consider and enter those tournaments sooner, while allowing more time for HRF staff to consentrate on the Red/Blue Restricteds, Insta Tournaments and HRF generated General Tournaments.

after going over my horses new directions with the new classifications claimers are still needed for those horses whos BSR is just a bove one Blue level and to far away from the next like a 111 for example who has already run a some races in her career and for one reason or another has run over 110 in a trainer race and is now stuck in a 120 red where they are outclassed as well or if the ran on the slop sometime are out of reds all together... and are not good enough for the new high price opens... they at least still have the cliamer route to go... as I said claimers still have a need for horses that are caught in between the new classes
I agree Xanadu. They just dont need as many as there are now. Could probably cut the percentage of instas put out by more than half.
a season, to where if a horse wins , his points would contribute to a end of the season Derby of some sort....heres how I would break it down for points totals...
Insta tourney win - 25pts
Blue Restrict win - 40pts
Red Restrict win - 50pts
General Tourn win- 100pts
then at the end of the season the top 12 run for the big Derby or Breeders Cup.....this would keep big horses out of the small races more too.....also on your horses page, there could be a rank or points total of your horse through out the season letting you know where your horse is on points...just an Idea
Instant doesnt fill because there is too much choice and always same patterns : (5.0F soft , 6.5 sloppy etc)
Just stick with :
1 RANDOM (price,distance and ground) claimer per day (for 2yo) ,
1 RANDOM (price,distance and ground) claimer every 2 days for 3yo
1 RANDOM (price,distance and ground) claimer every 4 days for 4yo.
Too much choice, too few buyers..
There needs to be many to cover most BSR groups. This will give other horses at different BSR's the opportunity to compete. To not have the variety for the trainer community is frustrating. I have recently retired five horses because they have no where (Blue Tournaments) to run with out getting trampled on (8,500 points X 5 = 42,500 points saved in "monthly" stable fees). Waiting for a Blue tournament to happen is not worth the stable fees to keep these lower BSR horses with no knowledge if a tournament will ever be written for them and many others in the game.
Now I'm just waiting to see what comes out as far as Blue Tournaments to see how many more I will have to cut from my stable. Maybe in time things will get better.
they are all good but i still want to be able to claim horses...
You say you didn't want your horses to get trampled on...do you mean like what Stark Reality did to the field and then you give the comment to the handicapper how you think 3lb in the final is appropriate? really? you won close to $1m over every horse in this tournament and the handicap is 3lbs. Now that is funny...anyways good luck to you!!!

The weights are appropriate for the outcome of how the field did in the tournament. The favorite has justafiable high weight, now we're looking at a horse race.

i often wonder why the auction programme was suddenly put on hold ...it seems to me like this game is incomplete without a genuine way for us to trade in horses for points ....
