To all new members who see the negitive posts this is the best online game around and getting better. If you are trying to make money though maybe you should try robbing banks. This is strictly for fun. For less than fifteen bucks a month you get the excitement of owning, training and riding thoroughbred horses. Add to that you get to read all of the cry baby posts, plus I might add a lot of very informative posts about horse racing in general. I have bred over 80 horses, not many by some standards, but still a little costly and I have had one good winner, 1.8 million. The rest have not been very exciting to say the least. My best has collected 517,000 points in tournaments. Subtract 365,000 points for entry fees breeding fees and stable fees for 13 months and you see what I mean about not getting rich. I have what may be my best in training now she won her first with a 133 sr and ran 2nd next time with a 122 so maybe ......... If you can find something cheaper and more fun go for it. If not this is the place to be, and listening to the whining just adds to the fun.

CRY BABY???
I looked at your post.. you made very poor subtraction..
80 bred horses = 2million points... best you recalculate before posting about us being cry babies...
Nobody has ever said this is not the best game in the world..
All us cry babies complain about the costs of breeding now..
Your post proves it 100% so not really sure where your heading with it..
But i do agree new members should ignore us older big spending members that fund the game.. your right..
Thanks.
Dave.

i know pappa which is very wrong,, if yousped 2 million points on breeding then that 1 good horse must repay the 2 mill or you loose... many poeple forget this when breeding...
If you spend 500k on breeding and get 1 good horse every 500k spent the chances of sucess are very good.. most good horses , if placed right, will pay back that 500k spent..(full career like yours now)
I just spent 2.5 million and got 4 good... 1 even made the 3d spot hahahahah but after trianing i doubt any of them will pay me back the points... my lose and i except that,, i love to breed so cant complain totally..
My complaint in full respect to everybody is simple... how can i breed the same pairs/horses as another person on the same day... i spen 2 mill the other spends 100k... i get donkeys ,the other gets 130+...
This and only this fact is what upsets majority of big spenders ad causes the cry baby syndrom..... unfortunaly..
100% True your main reason of thread,,, game is best on the planet by huge margins...however if we feel we got delt a poor deal in the shed we are entitaled to a few dummy spits...
90% of my posts will be funny and in love of game... thats pretty good average...lmao..
If i post bad then puddles kicks my ass to get me back in line so it normaly only lasts 24hours if im in a bad mood....

Well said Papajack. The game needs more like you to come out of the silent background and voice their opinion. The crybabies, as you correctly labeled them, dominate the forum and lend a false impression to the game. A newcomer, reading some of the posts, would be made to feel as if playing the game was resulting in being held hostage or suffering from some horrific disease.
Flyingdaaka respects your refreshing honest play in jockey tournaments and recognizes you as a legitimate threat to win.

As for breeding that is a crap shoot. I don't know how many times bold ruler was bred to something royal but i know how many secretariats we had. This is the only place where you can breed multiple times with the same pair in the same year let alone the same day.You are saying if one gets a 135 sr and someone else gets a 100 from the same pair that is not fair. It seems to me that is just luck

Allow me to put my concerns/ comliants in a different context...
If i go to the track and win nice then the next week will be full of priases and happiness..
if you go racing and loose then you look for exuses for a few days until you get over it,, jockey useless, gotblocked ect ect..
same with any sport, even football... if you loose badly you make exuses.. referee an idiot, blah blah...
Whaley your right everything in life costs money somehow..
I am one of the most liked in the commnity (still no damn apples) so when i get upset most laugh at me anyway and forget what i said.. everybody knows how much i truely love the game....

i agree with some of your points and disagree with some, looking at your play level i would agree with you 100%, on the other hand suggesting pay play and have no opinion makes no sense, when you pay and play at a higher level you have your opions, think what would happen if the few who voice their opinions didn't then it would be "take what i give you", lot more would like to voice their opinion but they are scared they will be jumped on...its a part of the game and i think others opinions count ask HRF the welcome our opinions most of the times ; )

I am in total aggreement with everyone deserving a right to voice their opinion. After all that is what I was doing. I think we all have areas that we disaggree with HRF. That is ok. It is just that there are a few (very few) who constantly complain about everything. and we're not old we just have more experience.

and only a few races under my belt, I have recognized that I am truly addicted beyond hope. This IS an amazing game! I have begun to follow in the footsteps of some of the top point earners and done some snooping around in the barns with a flashlight late at night. (don't shoot!)
I finally have some nice ponies in the barn. How they will run remains to be seen. A couple of nice speed rated horses ran well below their birth sr, and I was warned that it would probably happen. It can still be somewhat disconcerting. Maybe they will be competitive in the cheaper races until they mature some. I do find myself hanging on to some lower figure horses if it seems they have courage to fight for the win.
In training, they run big numbers, but if they turn in a 120 or 125 in the slop, I'm still not inclined to think that's where they belong, what with several slop monsters out there running 140s. Mine will occasionally pop a 135 or 140, but not with anough consistency to think they will win tournaments. Still looking for that magic combination of surface and distance I guess.
Still, I can't wait to get home from work and see how my latest race turned out, or look at the top bred horses from the previous day and see if I can replicate it. The wife's already wondering about me! LOL
Jamie: You can't get 'em all, Josie.

There are too many negetive threads on this forum. The game is awesome. You guys who spend millions of points on breeding are moaning about the lack of good horses you get yet the best 10 or more horses in your stable are better than my best horse. You have a good stable and deserve it because of what you spend. And you take forgranted those that do not spend much because they have not much.
Papa like myself has been trying to address the problem of negativity. Even the smaller inexpensive stables can enjoy this fabulous game. jdub1961 is another example of someone new realising the great games addictive and exciting powers.
But some of you are too competative and are obsessed by high SRs. This game is fun if the SR is 100 or 150,
All I am saying is be more grateful that the game exists. Or we would be stuck with Digiturf lol.
Be positive even in defeat!!!!

I would like to know who you keep insulting... a question because Im one of the top trainers and breeders if I do say so myself... my %'s just went down considerable because I dealt with sub 110sr horses...it was 65%-70%... now like 45%.. and you seem to not mind me so why is it you feel the need to completely try and I do repeat try to humiliate everyone that I trust and look up to??? They have a LOT better horses then I have.... and I wish I had the brains and tenacity that they have.... between them all they have sooo much to give to people like me and you and a lot of others.... they spend their days and a big part of their lives to this game and also helping fellow players... maybe they are wrong from time to time... look at me as well Im wrong as well.. but that doesn't mean that a one of us is actually trying to intentionally harm anyone.. all we do is try to help others out.. get new friends.. and find some new brilliant competiiton... gahh I just don't understand.. one "big trainer".. makes one bad move and your jumping all over it like outback jack on a beer.. my god...

i see daaka as good value to the site. his third person rants are great humour - i imagine he knows this and plays on it well. take him with a pinch of salt for the most part - but i think he does speak some truths - couple that into the third person angle and he becomes a nice little entity. as does, everyone else - who gives their time to the site - and thats just it for me - its the time people spend - not the dollars. imo...it could be very easy to get wrapped up into competitive racing and losing the plot on the entertainment value. where is the bird?

I agree.
My horse Krypton won 3 of 3 races in her first tournament heavy running with a max of 6 horses in each race and ran 4th in the tournament! She beat all the horses except 1 more than once in all 3 races and magically could not compete well in the G1. You can tell how the race will end in the first 10 seconds by using the function 8 button! Especially when they start out too fast or too slow. I'd rather have too slow and at least they'll have energy and not drown horses out of energy on a 2 mile race and expect them to be able to take off when they've been running full blast for almost 2 miles!
I feel better now that I officially posted my first semi-complaint about a grade 1!

My turn to be a cry baby, and for the record, I am not one of the top trainers, but do MILDLY cry once in a while. I hate conflict and getting in hot water for any reason, so like sunny d said. I am one of those afraid to post anything too negative. But this is getting old for me, so I am going to post and see what happens. Like jb and westy, I had the same thing happen in 3 finals last night. It has happened to me a lot lately. The first final, I didn't do too bad, but my horse had an excellent record going into the final.
The first final...
Prelims...
Un-5.5f/turf hard/1st
G3-6f/turf firm/1st
Un-5f/turf firm/1st
Final-5.5f/turf firm/2nd OK, so this one wasn't so bad, but it still stung a bit, since my horse did have the highest win record for that tourney. She should have been a favorite and wasn't, she carried 3 lbs than the winner, while another horse with 2 wins and a 2nd carried 7 lbs less than the favorite, which should not have been the favorite, in all fairness to that horse.
The second final.....
Prelims...
Un-5f/turf firm/1st
Un-5f/turf hard/1st
Un-5f/turf firm/1st
Final-5.5f/turf firm/4th I know the final was a whole .5f farther, never made any difference with this horse before. And there were other horses with the same record and one with a better record than mine. My horse had no traffic problems, and still should have finished better than 4th.
The third final, and the one that I just don't understand the most....
Prelims....
G2-9.5f/sloppy/1st
G1-10f/sloppy/2nd
G2-9f/sloppy/1st
Final-9.5f/sloppy/5th My horse broke ok, then just dropped back 17L off the lead, had rxcellent closing speed, but was so far back there was no way she could get close to even placing in this tourney. I just don't get it. The winner's record? 3rd, 5th, 3rd. The winner was the favorite with that record. The 2nd place horse should of had better odds that the winner, the 2nd place horse's record was 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, and was the second longest odds. And another horse of mine, 3rd, 4th, 5th, with the worst record of all came in 3rd, and was the longshot.
That is it for my crying...... Just leaves me scratching my head.
Still the best game going as far as horse racing goes. IMO
Everyone has their opinions and gripes as well as compliments, and should be allowed to voice them WITHIN reason. I think maybe sometimes we might not post the compliments as much as we should. HRF really does go out of their way to listen, and try to explain, or fix any glitches, as well as implimentling anything they agree might help make the game easier for the members.

Sorry Paint. I can explain the 2nd of those finals. My horse ran like a bat out of hell from the stalls. took most of the usual leaders a while to realise that the speck in the distance was a horse
He plodded on and got 3rd but it was in most cases the distance they let my horse and another horse get away. Still 3rd was good for my little pony. Lost soldier is another of my heroes but bad luck Paint Im sure you will suprise someone else soon too.

"Slowly suck money out of you" LOL !!! Flyingdaaka has seen that you have bred over a hundred horses in the last couple of days, that isn't slowly, you sucked your own money from you quickly. Well, obviously it is clear how foolish you are performing in here, Flyingdaaka doesn't see the need to get into that, but you did mention you had a mentor. Once again, the mentor needs to take some accountability. You clearly learned nothing from the mentor. Perhaps it is your fault, or you had an ineffective mentor. Flyingdaaka suspects it was a combination of both.
HRF has no need to fix races. You are coming in last because you aren't training your horses and thus not entering them properly. You, like so many, are judging your horse on birth SR alone. Flyingdaaka refers to this as "The Sundown Syndrome". A silly way to operate one's stable.
No, HRF is not your problem. They are not into fixing races.....post positions in finals ????? Well, that's another story. The jury is certainly out on that one.

Dabster : A frog was sat on a riverbank sunning himself, a scorpion approached him and asked, 'Would you please ferry me across the river? The frog considered this request for a while and replied, ' I know that you'r a scorpion, and that you have a lethal sting, what's to stop you from stinging me halfway across?' Without hesitation the scorpion retorted, 'That would be foolish on my part as I would drown, and not reach the other side.' Agreeing to the request the frog motioned the scorpion to climb apon his back, and then struck out for the other side. Reaching halfway the scorpion raised his tail and stung the frog in the the neck, in his death throws the frog convulsed and pitched the scorpion into the river, looseing the battle against the effects of the poison the frog gasped, 'Why did you do that?' Taking his last breath before drowning, the scorpion spluttered, 'It's in my nature!' Now Mr Bettowin 98 you obviously did not write your gripe from the perspective of the frog, so that makes you the scorpion, correct. So just take the pain it's self inflicted!!! storytelling dabster. I've read the posts on this thread. I'm throwing in my 2 cents worth....
Yes, HRF is THE BEST horse racing simulation on the web. Notice the word simulation- this is, afterall ,a game. The difference is HRF makes the game so REALISTIC.
I worked the "backside" of race tracks years ago. I loved every minute of living "the life" as a backsider. This game brings back pleasant memories for me.
I'm sure there are other members of the community that are/were in the horse racing industry. Even if you have no background in the industry, you still can enjoy the sport for what it is- with beautiful and powerful race horses, it's exciting,it's frustrating, it's filled with heart-racing action, huge highs and gut wrenching lows, and, overall, FUN.
The creators of HRF had this all in mind when they created this game. That is what separates HRF from the other horse racing games out there. Puddles et al.. don't seem to be happy with the curent product. They actually listen to the community and are constanly trying to improve the game. I highly commend them for that.
Just like in real horse racing, breeding horses is a crap shoot. Yes, the odds are better when you breed a Stallion and Dam that have proven themselves on the race track. and, who, of themselves, have a lineage that is also "blue blood". Occasionally, a horse by an unknown/lesserknown stallion throws a Champion horse- a la Giacomo or Charismatic, for example.
In real life, Unraced/raced 2 year olds and up sell for MILLIONS of dollars in the sales ring. Look at" The Green Monkey"- he was regally bred and he was the highest purchase price in auction history. And, it turned out he didn't run a step on the race track!
We only pay $25,000 points to breed- initially. And, when we decide to rebreed our horses it costs less than that! " The vet" here in the game is cheap compared to real life horse vet bills.
Believe me.
When the real breeders/buyers sell/buy their yearlings or 2 year olds in training, at OBS, Keeneland etc.. do you think, like we do in this game, they DON'T check the breeding history before they/ we breed, sell and buy?Sure they and we do!
In this game we can "rebreed"-same thing in real horse breeding. They mate the same stallion and broodmare in hopes of achieving the same quality of a top race horse they previously bred- like La Ville Rogue-Dyanformer has produced Barbaro, Nicanor, & Lentenor.
The real owners train their horses to race, just like we do. They pay for training, vet care, farrier care, feed bills, stall and /or paddock fees- monthly, just like we do in this game.
Do you think that an owner of a real race horse will say "I want my money back because this horse isn't what I thought it would become? Or my horse didn't win the big stakes race like I thought it should have? No way. They just keep breeding horses to try and get the elusive Multi- champion race horse. That's the same thing we do in this game.
It's frustrating and aggravating, at times. Including the "on top of the world highs" and heart breaking lows.
And, Welcome to HRF- the most realistic horse racing game on the planet.

Dabster: The very idea of 'steam rollering' to success has been tried many times in the past. You have to be in it for the long haul. The late great Vincent O'Brien with the financial backing of Robert Sangster did it in Ireland in the late 60's. He realised that the Northern Dancer bloodline produced a quicker maturing 3yo than the existing English/Irish equine blood pool that existed at the time. They went to Keeneland and bought every Northern Dancer foal and yearling on offer, provided it had good conformation. On the premise that if 1 in 10 of these could win at G1 level they would break even by syndicating the stallions when retired at the end of its 3yo carrear. The reason they weren't raced at 4 was because the later maturing Euro breed had now caught up! This strategy paid real dividends when in their second year they won the English Derby, Irish Derby, 2000Gns, Arc De Triomph and St Leger with individual horses. 10 years down the line they owned all the best sons of Northern Dancer! You cant do this in the game because you never own the breeding rights. Every time you go to the 'shed' you have an equal chance of breeding a champ, 'luck' plays the biggest part. If you breed one or a hundred the 'champ' may be the 102nd. So be warned, do not overextend yourself financially, as what your paying for is your entertainment, and damned fine entertainment it is!!! Yours In Sport With Much Respect Dabster.

ok i have been here long enough to understand the winning/ loosing finals senario..
it is exactly the same as reall life racing..
only difference is 1 tournament in hrf needs to be looked at as 5 or 6 races in real life..
how many horses win/place every start in real life??? not many..
ok here is exactly how it works...
tournament 6 prelims...2 prelims allowed per horse..
ok so any prelim that has very good speed and few frontrunners WILL be won by a closer if a good quality closer is in the feild..
any prelims full of closers with only 1 or 2 leaders will more then likely be won by the leader/ stalkers simply due to lack of pace upfront...
the program will assign every horse a target top speed, cruising speed, exactly like advance mode..difference is we cannot adjust it in tournament..
so if you have a leader that won every prelim then chances are you got easy lead in all prelims or lack of quality in the closers involved..
vice versa for closers winning every prelim..
NOW the best of the best all meet in 1 final... weights adjust for better or worse.. post position can kill but also can win you the race..
now you have the senario of WHAT WILL BE THE PACE OF FINAL???
will leaders get it easy?
1.. pp possie
2..pace of race
3..weight carried
4..track location and exact surface including track varient..
track varients vary and make huge differences to final sr in finishes.. a turf firm surface may be closer to good, or closer to hard... or dead center as solid firm... this WILL affect your horse.. i see it is advance mose everyday... i can break records by 1 second and extually run a sr of 105...
this is why we have so many horses performing best in finals rather then prelims... the conditions of the final including pace of race and pp, track location, suit the winner better then any other horse on that given day.. unforunately...
i have very fast leaders in tournaments right now... well just my luck my horses are fighting for front and runnig out of gas for finish, still placing but the speed was just to fast in prelims to win them.. the actuall leaders are finishig last in prelims..this is to my advantage.. my horses most likely will make final and with some luck 90% of the faster leaders wont, hense giving my girls an easier time upfront so they may settle.... somtimes it works to plan....other times plans a, b,and c all backfire....
add to this confusion consistancy and courage and heart... well thats a huge pot of pot luck..
racing is the sport of kings...it is also the sport of luck and misfortune...
now if i can just work out the breeding side of it gezzzzzzzz
lol..
