All stable fees do is remove alot of good horses from stables. Most people are trying to unload their horse within 30 days so they dont get hit with a fee. I dont know what people do but I give a average/good horse 30 days to show me something or there retired. Thats alot of pressure to place on the average player trying to get their stable in order.
If there was no stables fees most people would keep more horses, join and fill more tourn/insta and you would make more money. The only reason Mike wants to raise claimer prices because most people can get a better horse through a claimer then breeding one. Profits are down and that result is more people are claiming then breeding. Their only offering 3 year old claimers because they want you to hold on those average/good horses and pay stable fees until they age too 3.
VIP should pay no stable fees. I looked at alot of profiles and noticed there were many stables with good/great horses.
These players from some reason had to take a leave for months and came back with no horses in there stable. Thats because of stable fees destroyed and removed their horses. Theres always a catch and stables fees are that. You probably lost alot of players for that reason. This is a fun game, but why you putting some much pressure on the players? You would THINK with all this pressure you would offer a big return on OUR investment.

I agree. The stable fees, and the higher vet visit and breeding costs. And trying to find the one "hot combo" out of all the possible combinations.

Stable fees? If you pay to live in a house and seems if your planning to stay there awhile then you will probably buy one then rent one. So I want to know how much is a stable? Why do I have to pay rent when I should have the option of buying. I'll take the biggest barn you have and build it on a piece of land I just purchased. So in the future you wont be able to charge me taxes on your leased land!

Stable fees prevent trainers from being in a situation where they have lost control of their stable. It prevents reckless breeding and hoarding up on horses. It forces the player to manage his stable, not just breed them and fire them in to some tournament. It adds skill to the game, otherwise, there would be more trainers like you who just get hold of a ton of horses and throw them in tournaments at random. You stated that claiming is the way to get a good horse, then why not claim ??
Flyingdaaka does agree that stable fees are too high, but it does enforce accountability on reckless training.

When I enter my horses in claiming races there claimed about 90% of the time and if you asked the players that claimed my horses if they got more than they expected I'm sure the answer would be yes. When I've claimed horses they been very good to excellent horses. I have no issue in claiming. I have no issue in the prices for NN, PN, FN.
There should be a set range for each. NN you could get 70-140, PN 100-140, FN 110-140.
If a NN horse cost $2.50, then how can it cost .85 a month for stable fees? Stable fees would be less of a hassle if tournament were run and wrapped up in 2 weeks instead most run for 1 month. So your horse better finish in the money or your negative. Claiming runs in 5-7 days, where you have a probably better chance earning back money if you place your horse in the best condition and price race.
VIP's pay more for the service so we should get a incentive for that. They should charge at least $1.95 after 30 days if you want to join as basic member, or $9.95 VIP. Trainers are keeping this service/site going because we enjoy it.
People who Jockey or dont Join VIP are getting all these free benefits paid by VIP players.
My exact point is the post of joedracer79, that should never happen.

that must be awfully frustrating. You've got more than your share of grief to deal with. I hope you'll come check in from time to time.
About stable fees; I bought a $1100 horse for my daughters for 4H, and by the next year, between stable fees and lessons and tack (Western and English, to fit two different sized little girls) I had spent well over $10,000 for the darned project. It was worth it in real life.
If they're trying to make fantasy racing look and feel a lot like the real world, the stable fees are realistic, if not pleasant.
And breeding real horses is a crap shoot too. How many of the offspring of the most expensive studs and mares in real life never race? Or never make back what their owner/breeder invested in them?
You gotta love the sport, and the animals, in real life, or it isn't worth it.
Hope you find ways to enjoy the game, too.

Sorry to see you go Joe, but I understand how it is. I also hope you can stop by from time to time to say 'Hi' in the forum.
The stable fees are a thing paid in real life, I agree they are high here even for a thoroughbred.
I had my two Paint horses boarded for a while in Oregon. Up there you have full or partial care, ranging from $100 a month to $300. Now during the months from April to October you put them out on pasture so you don't have to buy hay. That usually runs about $30 to $50 a month, becuase the owner is getting a service from your horse, a grass mower...lol. For both it cost me anywhere from $60 to $200. Because I chose self care, which means I have to furnish my hay and grain, and clean out stalls and paddocks once a day. I only brought my Paint mare down with me when I moved. My gelding stayed in Oregon at a friend's. He was getting older and she used him for a schooling horse until he had to be put to sleep because of blindness. Anyway, down here in Cali, it is WAY more expensive. It is all year round, all full care, and starts at around $300 to $400 and goes all the way up to $1000 a month, depending on location. I found a nice place at $300 a month, but I have to drive 18 miles one way to go out there. If I add in the cost of gas for my truck, she is pretty spendy.

Hi Joe . I do not know you but I do know there are several players like you. The complainers(LOL). Why not just leave Joe why complain? It sounds like to me you want to try to breed a great champion but do not want to pay for it? if you can not afford to play the game that way then why not just play to have fun and keep it simple. Spend 10-20 per month or less breeding a few horses and run them where you can and enjoy the GAME ? Why keep breeding if you can not afford it? Why complain? Why be mad at the game ? All they do is just provide the entertainment?
I can spend more money here then anyone (and will once I learn more)I have more points here then anyone right now .I want to stay on top of the point leader board so players will know I am here to stay. I want the best stable and will have it but I CAN afford it and if I get bad results I will not complain I will Just keep trying but that is me and you are you . I am building my stable up very slow and soon will start to get into the tournaments . I want to have the best horses and most badges . I think for you Joe you need to just play with a few bucks or do some of those simple free offers.
From what I can tell there are a lot of small players who spend no money or very little and still have fun.
PS sorry to here about your loss

Since there providing a service as fantasy racing trying to represent real racing you would think there would be several people with more points earned than spent. So what your saying in real life no trainer or owner makes a profit?
If they make a profit, why doesn't any one here have one? You said you want this game to represent real training and ownership.
WITH ONE EXPECTION NO ONE WILL MAKE A PROFIT
25 weeks 1 day
Nope, in real life I made no profit on my horses. All 14 of them I have owned through my life. I had no intention of making a profit off my real horses. They are/were Show Horses and Barrel Racing horses. I would win Jackpots, and did well in the smaller local rodeos, but that was never enough to pay the bills on my horses. I love horses and always have, it was money well spent that made me happy. That is all I was saying.
Of course I would like to see a profit here, but if it doesn't happen, again, it is money well spent and it makes me happy.
I hear what you are saying and have no dispute with what you are saying. I agree with you. I was just offering my point of view is all, and that it happens in real life a lot like it does here.

...in real life make a profit. But they don't just bring in money from racing. They're also breeding their own horses, collecting stud fees, selling horses for other pursuits besides racing, (I have some retirees that would have made great therapeutic riding horses, if only I could have sold them!) The place I board my horses they also run a tack store and give riding lessons.
So yeah, it ain't real, but who is going to start a really fun therapeutic riding fantasy game, or eventing fantasy game, or riding lessons fantasy game to interface with this one?
Now there's and idea! Hey HRF staff, how about some steeplechase races?
Love your posts, jbcri, that kitten is cute! Looks like he'd bite me if I tried to pet him....

That kitten is sooooo cute! Looks like a white tiger kitten.... Adorable....
frosty- Phil has been after hrf to get steeplechasing races in here for a long time. He loves the jumping. It could be fun, but..... I tried one for free just to see what it was about. The dang horse kept falling over the jumps, of course it could have had to do with the fact I would forget to push the jump button....lmao! Much easier here, I just enter and watch....lol

Joe, Sorry to see you go.
As far as stable fees go, they are part of the game, and a part of real life racing as well, and I doubt its something you will get changed about the game. I try to keep my stable at a certain point where I think I can afford the upkeep every month. I would suggest not breeding horses if your not going to be able to afford to keep, or plan on getting rid of them just to avoid paying stable fees. Its not like its a surprise, there is a warning everytime you breed a horse about monthly stable fees on that horse.
0 sec
Ok so theres no option to buy a stable? How about letting players buy back there retired horses because there stable fees werent payed? Give a option to pay back fees so you dont have to lose your horses as what happened to Joe and many others.
1 week 5 days
I understand, as everyone else should, that this is a BUSINESS, and not just a game for our entertainment. I know this does not come cheap, so I try not to complain about prices, even though I think many of you brought up good points. It would be nice if it were even 5000 points per month for a VIP's stable fees, or maybe just raise the VIP to $20 per month, with room for 25 horses to stable included in that price. I still spend far too much on horses-between breeding, stable fees, and tourneys. I have found alot of times a horse will have stable fees due as he is in the middle of a tourney. What do you do, retire him if he's making money just to save the price of stable fees? I have almost seventy horses, so I know they make money on me, and that is okay, BUT, i had zero computer usage for over 6 weeks and lost about 45 horses, due to unpaid stable fees! The thing that sucked was, a lot of the horses were young, and had potential, yet i couldn't keep them without paying their fees! Puddles did help me out as much as possible, (thanks again Mike) but even he had limitations! I still think a higher cost for the VIP, which would include stable fees for say, 25-30 horses (I know I already said this, I am making a point here) would keep more horses in the game, and could fill more tourneys.
One last point. A lot of people have commented on the lack of tourneys, but, 1) You do have to enter some tourneys. There are some good ones out there, 2) If people don't like the tourneys that are available, create one of your own, and hope the people that vote for it actually enter it, and 3) All of you fat cats out there- YOU ARE ALLOWED TO REQUEST A TOURNEY ALSO! Some nameless persons have complained, yet, I have not seen certain names listed as creators, as far as tourneys go. Stop sitting there, complaining and counting your points, and make some tourneys! Post a comment and see what people want! It seems its all 2 year old races or slop, as people love their horses to run fairytale-like, totally unachievable speed ratings or something! Be creative. I'm sure that, in certain cases, if you build it ( a tourney) they will come!
I'm quite through.

That is a very good Idea, and I know Joe lost alot good horses (Especially Slews Info)

I know that I would like to unretire some horses, but I know that isn't possible. I think that they should give you two weeks to pay your fees. This way, maybe you could either 1) run quick races every day, and within a week to ten days, you could have enough to cover the fees (easy way to earn some points) or 2) enter an inta-tourney, and hope one of your horses stablemates can help raise some funds. There are options. I still think that a $20 VIP membership that includes 25 horses stable fees would be a viable option. I know there are people that will say that is too high, but, come one, you know you can easily spend ten bucks (half the cost) in just one day, breeding four pairs of horses, so it isn't THAT expensive! Puddles, are you reading any of this?

my biggest mistakes have been allowing myself to feel too pressured by stable fees u need to ignore them sometimes
1 year 11 weeks
one thing that would be good to me is..... faster single daily races, where you can put any horse you have in a daily race..I still dont understand why it takes even insta tournies so long to finish....just make daily races for any of your horses so you can atleast make some money back on them....Make one race thta goes off at a certain time of each day, and when that one fills and ends, another race would start...that way you can race your horses as fast as you want to.....I woudnt care if on some of my horses, I would run their whole career in 2 days, as long as that what I wanted to do....Oh yeh one more thing, if the jockey tournaments arent backed up by the HRF people anymore because they dont make any money from it, then why dont they put all of the horse packages back in the quick start mode so we can jockey more than than the ones they give us .....I thought it was fun racing all of the horses in quickstart mode.....

Oh BTW...I've lost lots of horses because i can't be here as often as i wish lately because of personal reasons which my friends know but i've never seen any handouts coming my way...is this because i'm one of those "FATCATS" ????? You know the complaining, counting points kind!!!!!

Being a VIP, we need stable fees because just like a regular stable, horses have to be fed and that costs money. We, as VIPs, already have a discount of $8500 a month for a horse. But I still think the VIPs should be able to go without paying stable fees for a month.

I agree Ruffiano. I liked having the horses from the purchased horse files mixed in with the community horses from quickstart. Now I rarely use them, unless training some of my horses against them.
1 year 11 weeks
very true, I dont use my other horse files at all now, I would, but after racing for the 6000 points a day, and training, you dont want to mess with those files for no points anymore...
