What On Earth ?????
Wells Fargo Enters 3500 Entry Fee 1000 Flat Race Tourney...Must Need Some Quick Cash!!!!
Now This Is Reason Enough Why Different Classes Are Needed...This Is Laughable :D
I Noticed also...i've got one running in that one. She has dropped off some...but I think it's more from entering into wrong distance/surface etc...she, excels at this distance on dirt though. Lets call it a confidence builder for a horse that may need it right now though. ;p
1) There is nothing that says you can't put a good horse in a cheap tournament, and besides there are a lot of people that can't afford the high-cost tourneys
2) Wells Fargo might not do very well, even in that tourney
This is what I think the ghost owner is thinking.
1) Wells Fargo is on the downward trend and needs a step-down in class
2) Her earnings are plateauing and if she was to make it to the shedrow, she'll need to average about 350k per remaining tornament.
3) The competiton should be less in this tournament
4) It could be an easy 350k with a tournament win.
-It is something I would do as well
Yeah its crazy these owners doing that, another good example is Dash 4 Cash in the "A Good Day" tourney and Billie Jean in the "Storm Way". I took a double take as well when I saw those....
is past his prime, he needs to step down in class. I had to retire one because they were past their prime and could no longer compete in their class, and there weren't enough tournaments in her class to place her in. But if Wells Fargo romps, it's too bad for slow horses and poor stables. Only Xrays knows if that race was a fluke or a pattern.
At what entry price does class separate? Before I was bankrolled by my students, a 3500 dollar tourney with a thousand point race entry fee would have seemed like big bucks. If I have a horse that I think is a monster, what should the entry cost look like before I can ethically join in? Any generally accepted guidelines?
And in another cost saving measure, when do the auctions start, Puddles?
They sent him to the vet to have him gelded and the vet made a mistake and cut off one of his legs instead. Now they're talking about a Match race between, Wells Fargo and Alleged. LOL
I think its sad, i posted about needing different classes a long time ago and almost everyone flamed my post, well as others build their stables they will see what i was talking about...there's no decent tournament out there anymore, once in a while you might come across one but the tournaments are just absolute garbage, if you try to make one and get some vote you can bet within an hr there will be 5-6 no votes others see that they figure oh well thats a no go and vote against it also.
The problem also is that Wells Fargo is no longer the horse it use to be, for whatever reasons the plug was pulled on that horse, 154 sr horse should never be failing / falling the way that horse has been, it's the reason why i think there's no reason to keep going after the breeding thing anymore, i am going to throw most of my new breeds into claiming races and my stable is going to go semi idle..i logged on this morning and tried entering tournaments but i just couldn't, the need is not there so i just entered some claiming races and if they start doing claiming races for 3 yos i will get rid of a lot of horses ( i dont think claiming should go over into 3yos).
The tournaments has gotten cheap payout wise and expensive to enter, we use to have some kick ass tournaments now those seem to be a thing of the pass...has anyone even got a single month pass where they won enough points to cover stable cost, big or small stable, it's no problem for me keeping a big stable but when there's a 100% chance as it is now that now one here will be able to cover their stable without going into what they already have gets to be no fun, i can't blame Wells Fargo for entering lowbie tournaments now but he wont win like i said the plug was pulled.
i wonder if Mr. Motron saw all this because he has been very smart.
What is the difference between something being a morally spontaneous right action and something being a morally spontaneous wrong action: Just because there is a loophole in the current rules that allows horses to race well below their class in my opinion neither makes it right nor acceptable..It is however a practice that is becomming more and more wide spread...It does nothing for the game, for the credability of the trainer or the reputation of the horse....In the last fortnight for example two world records have been set by horses in 2k touneys.... both racing in tourneys well below the exposed class of the horse!
I see Wells racing in this tourney akin to racing Secretariat in an allowance when as a still racing 5yo his form had begun to tapper off..It wouldn't happen !) 1) because real racing rules wouldnt allow it and 2) it would just be demeaning a champion race horse who had given his all and such action was beneath the dignity of his connections.
Wells has nothing left to prove..... If the owner trainer believes she has done her dash she should be retired gracefully and not aimed at tourneys below her class and SR...in the hope of winning those last few thousand bucks at the expense of and ripping off those trainers whose horses have been honestly and appropriately placed in their best judgement and good faith......And when the mooted breeding criteria changes take place I am sure Wells would be invited to take her place justifiably in the HRF breeding barn on her merits..certainly not because she may have beaten a few moderates or up and comming performers in a low class tourney in the twilight of her career......
Sundown is right the problem is there are not enough tourneys for older horses. There are only a handful and the top horse have to enter because they have no other options.
I have one that set a world record recently. His SRs prior to that in the tourney were 99, 101, and 105. He's run sub-100 in three of his last twelve races.
In practice for all tournaments, since he turned four (which was November of last year), he consistently runs in the 100-110 range. I've seen him run over 120 in private mode exactly four times since November of last year.
What should I do with this horse, Emerson?
Enter him in a large entry-fee, step-up race tournament?
Enter in lower-level races, where a SR of 108 might possibly win?
I have another horse that has run 120+ three times in her career. She is currently entered in the cheapest tournament there is, for her ideal distances.
Why? Because she has also run SR of 67 and 69 in tournaments. In practice, if I run the same race five times, the performances sometimes go 121-104-72-108-101. She is the most inconsistent horse I have ever had.
Is that morally reprehensible to enter her in there?
I agree with what people are saying about the class system... it is one thing that needs improvement. It is better than it used to be, at least we have the restricted tournies now.
Mr. Mojak, stop trying to rationalize your actions with Emerson. Emerson is one the of the biggest whiners in HRF. Things don't go his way, he lets everyone know about it. His stats are awful. He doesnt grasp what is going on here. He pretends things operate the way they should in his mind, and that catches up with him. Mr. Mojak, enter your horses where you please. If you think you are the only one who would ever enter a horse below their class, well, .....lol....ahem...sundown...ahem....
What everyone forgets is these trainers who have 80 horses run out of tournaments to enter their horses, so they are forced to enter them anywhere.
I'd be willing to bet she wins this tournament easily. I agree with you Mark, not near enough good tournaments for quality horses, but the community doesn't enter those "Kick Ass" tournaments anymore they are getting cancelled left and right. Apparently the smaller tournies are what puts the bread in the box. Put yourselves in Wells Fargo's Owners shoes, you have a great horse....which is your only horse....now go look and see what tournaments are available for her. You will find that as of right now there is one tournament on dirt that starts 3/17 with a 7.5 furlong final and 15k step up race fee, but guess what, there is only 1 entry in that tournament and it will probably be cancelled. So do you take a chance that tourny may fill up or do you go enter a medium priced one you know will fill, and you can get decent earnings from? I tell you right now I would have done the same thing, and enter her exactly where she is. The "Big" tournaments especially at Her age aren't big anymore, because if they aren't cancelled they have mimimal entries....(See the Wanna Bet tourny, and The good Way to Play Tourny). Not defending the practice of entering superior horses in low events when there are others available, but in this case...this may have been the best available touranement. She isn't finished yet....she's just not a sprinter.
Edit: In fact her last tournament I would guess was an attempt to keep racing "Big" and she was put in a situation where she wasn't racing in Ideal conditions and got spanked by horses that were.
That's right bhd... another aspect of it is that a lower-entry fee tourney that has 35 slots and fills, or comes close to it, can result in a lot bigger payout than it looks. The first place prize in Fargo's current tourney will be double, or more, than what it lists on the tournament page, by the time it's all said and done.
And if the hypothetical 35-horse tourney in my example does fill, you can bet it is not going to be completely full of horses that only run about 105.
My comments were actually in support of what Sundown was saying, couched in a way that may have some impact on whoever may be able to influence positive change...Your horse(s) were not included in the examples I gave....Of course the answer to your question is no: you should place them in the most appropriate tournies that in your judgement they can win..You know your horse .... the competition doesn;t....Thats the thrill of the game.....It's racing known high class, consistent, high sr horses in low class tourneys that I am questioning... using Wells as an example....
I guess I don't know who the people are that do this consistently.
One other thing guys... what if xrays0 has been practicing with WF, and she has lost a few more steps? We have no way of knowing what is going on with the horse, until we see a tournament race run.
Edit- I just pulled a performance report on her. Peak age is 4.6, and this will be her first tournament as a five-year old. She may be sharply declining... mine lost an average of 25 points off his SR overnight, when he aged to four.
Not saying I hope it happens to xrays0; on the contrary, I hope it doesn't.
Here's my 2 cents. Rather than have them alll of a sudden start runnning like a cheap claimer, have them tail off slowly. For instance, keep running well, but a tad slower ( just a tad ) , perhaps forcing them from Grade 1 races to Grade 2 races.
Then, when they start struggling there, enter them in Grade 3 races. Have this be over a 2 year period. Then, when they can't handle Grade 3 Class, put them in ungraded stakes races. There shouldn't be this sudden big drop as some have mentioned. As an example, I could see a 126 to 124 to 120 to 118 to 115 to 110, decline, or thereabouts, but over a period of time. Not overnight. 126 to 105 wouldn't be acceptable. These are merely demonstration examples to explain what I mean and could be changed.
In short, I'm saying, the decline curve should be slow. Not fast. This would be more realistic. IMO
OK just to make this more sporting like and show my sportsmanship.....
IF my sr105 "go for daaka" makes it to the final.
IF wells fargo also makes it to final..
I hereby will open a challenge buddy on my horse a pissy 105sr..
she can beat Wels fargo and show the world that "sr's" mean nothing in this game!!!..
the price i enter will depend my points..
but the person excepting must choose wells fargo.
ooppss the Elephantitus of my testicles starting to get sore.. better go lay down a while...
its not that the community doesn't want to enter but its not worth it when entry and entry fee per race is through the roof plus the pay off is not worth it, before the payoffs were never this low and members weren't being pushed in a corner...the high priced tournaments in the pass were being filled now its all trash HRF puts out there, they haven't said or done anything really possitive in a very long time.
Sometimes, you just have to run them where it is best for them to win. With the new jackpot tournys out now, expect it to happen alot more often when trainers are guessing which tournys will pop up as jackpots. Leading Colorful Package to the retirement home as I type, that way I don't put him in a cheap tourny and get scolded by the community.
Sad to see him go...one of the best early horses in the game. Who could forget that romp in one of the best star studded tournaments ever in HRF (Love To Run) My opinion the best tournament in HRF history. For some of you newer guys this was one of those Kick ass tournaments sundown was talking about!! What a competitive tournament, but Colorful Package Dominated the final!!! http://www.horseracegame.com/community/races/1874
Thanks Chris. When they can't compete anymore, there's not much else you can do with them. Hopefully he passed on some of his wisdom to other horses in barn. lol
Sorry to see Colorful Package go also racodo. When I was doing the records for the HRF News, there were many times, Colorful Package's name was up at the top of the list because he'd just broken a record or two. I hope he did give up some of his secrets to the new horses in your stable.... :)
Heres my 2 cents.. Sad to see colourful package go... Mike is always so honorable.. letting go of his horse rather than letting the community have a go at him.. Anyway the need for having a class/handicap system is very pressing, how can a champion horse be allowed to enter any tourney he wants .. the restricted tourneys are really of a minimum use.. my donkey kong of a horse ran a sr 111 in a trial race (5th) in a crazy times race when his sr max is 96.. he effectively goes straight to the bin as i cant see him do anything but waste my precious points in any tourney he enters.
i don't think anyone here really thinks its time for CP to be turned out, that horse should be in its prime now but as it is now with how things are its a sad situation.
Once he passed his peak age, he struggled to run 105 in practice. His SR went from 125.7, to a 113 after his peak age. Wasnt going to have a shot at breeding shed running those numbers, but I saw that coming awhile back. That's why I never asked for votes, because I felt that they would be wasted votes that could go for more deserving horses.
I think its a real shame Racodo.
But I have no problem with wells Fargo running in low cost tournaments.
Trouble is Because the prize is not a massive one people think the class is not a good one also.
There is no class limit for the tourny so that is ok by me. I hope we see a great tournament. Wells will not be competetive against the best horses anymore so the risk of paying 25 -40k a tournament is not viable. So I applaude the Ghost for his astute training ability.
Wells and the other great horses will not be able to enter restricted tournies so if you dont want to race them then race there..
In every tournaments, also low entry fee, there are horses from top stables, and I guess their sr is often not less than 125..
If the owner of a 150sr horse wants to enter his horse in a 3k tourney, it's his problem, he will earn few comunity points and also less $$ because of the lack of G1 G2 in those tourneys(with the risk of not getting enough $$ for the breeding shed).
Then, we know that a 150 horse could win EVERY tourney also in bad form, so I prefer him to win this kind of tourney and leave the good ones to the others...
Then, about the 3yo claimers, they are the REAL claimers, where buyers can check some form before buying, and not only guessing..
One thing you people appear to be confused on is "class". There is no real class system in this game. However, the class that does somewhat exist in the game is not based on the entry fee of a tournament, like what you people believe. The class is more based on total purse for the tournament. Sundown most notably, but others also, take a beating for entering horses in low entry fee tourney's but, they are likely looking at the total purse. Some of these low entry fee purses are far higher than middle entry fee purses. If you want to argue class, then base it on the total purse of the tournament, not the entry fee.
Flyingdaaka wasn't surprised that it was revealed that 8 of the 10 top slop horses in the game were retired unraced. This proves what Flyingdaaka has been arguing all along. "Top trainers" in the game are not paying attention to the horses they breed. If they don't see an initial SR that is good enough to beat Wells Fargo, they dismiss the horse. What a shame. Vivid proof that the game is certainly lacking good trainers currently.
the general tournament part of the game is really dicey at the moment and it becomes even tougher when your horse turns 3yrs old and you have figured out exactly what type of tournaments you want for him to enter. if there is nothing on the horizon the wait can be 45 days and the catch is the tournament still might not fill so u run against 13 horses and the prize is smaller...on the plus side i really enjoyed the RUN AWAY a sprint tournament which should have a banging final coming up ....
As far as the entry fee vs. total purse thing, I've been saying that for months around here, and I said it furthur up this page as well. Always look at the number of entrants. The prize pool listed is based on HRF getting the MINIMUM numer of entrants.
Also, I agree with what Steve said about the restricted tourneys. Yes, eventually you will have a horse run a 101 or a 111, thus making himself ineligible for the sub-100 and sun-110 restricteds. But they are also starting to write restricted tourneys for sub-120 horses.
And if your horse runs a 121, making himself ineligible for those, you have no right to whine about anything anymore.
i wouldn't retire CP, my opinion is that each time they do something to the game client horses traits changes, whatever they did to the client last time really had an impact in private mode and tournaments on my stable, lots of lower horses started stepping up and the best horses in my stable stepped down.....its not by accident i padded on 100 winners ahead of the person in 2nd place.....also, they told us tournament surface and private mode surfaces are the same, i can tell you they are not...in private mode surface and distances means nothing all our horses will run like champs thats why in tournaments you will notice a big difference and thats because private mode is telling you one thing and tournaments are totally different...i would hold onto my better horses until they mess with client again.
The once great Wells Fargo finished a disappointing 9th on the leader board of the Dice on The Roll, missing the BC Final with only $60,000 earned to show for the tournament.
I hope I haven't unknowingly given away any secrets...
I confess, These horses appear so asexual, and it's too difficult for me to get positioned so I can see what kind of plumbing they have.
The list of retired-at-three boyfriends Wells could pick from is fairly long. But I'm not giving her any tips until she promises not to sue me for defamation of character.
My Deakin Blues has expressed a big interest,,he's been walking round the stable looking for the teaser..Too expensive I said and youve still got other business to attend.....

its not that the community doesn't want to enter but its not worth it when entry and entry fee per race is through the roof plus the pay off is not worth it, before the payoffs were never this low and members weren't being pushed in a corner...the high priced tournaments in the pass were being filled now its all trash HRF puts out there, they haven't said or done anything really possitive in a very long time.

Oh, Racodo, you said you were going to retire him! You didn't do something more permanent did you??????
Please tell me the horse is happily playing in a paddock somewhere!
If not, I hope you had on hand some of Emerson's yummy barbecue sauce...
I hated it when I had to retire my first decent horse, because she was elderly and not competitive anymore. :(

The once great Wells Fargo finished a disappointing 9th on the leader board of the Dice on The Roll, missing the BC Final with only $60,000 earned to show for the tournament.
What now for Wells Fargo?

I hope I haven't unknowingly given away any secrets...
I confess, These horses appear so asexual, and it's too difficult for me to get positioned so I can see what kind of plumbing they have.
The list of retired-at-three boyfriends Wells could pick from is fairly long. But I'm not giving her any tips until she promises not to sue me for defamation of character.
