Pick your own horses

Will we ever be able to pick the horses for a race in community mode? The randomly chosen ones get a little repetitive. I'd like to see more interaction between horses that generally run in Grade 1 and horses that are in the lower tiers. You can have a horse that wins 50 times in an ungraded stakes race and he will rarely show up in the G1s G2s or G3s.

Good point

Your point is very well taken. I've only been here for less than 2 weeks, so I'm not quite up to offering my wish list yet, but will in time. I'm hoping that in the trainers mode, they'll have all kinds of class options, including, mdns, claimers, allowance horses, Alw. stakes horses, grade 1,2 and 3, etc.
The game is evolving so it's so full of options and changes in the coming months and years and, in my opinion, could only get better. I've waited my whole life for such a a game and was about to give up, thinking that it wasn't going to happen. I have nothing but praise for the developers and all who are involved to make this great horse racing game available to us. You've created a game that surpasses any of my dreams.

nep great idea but I am not

nep great idea but I am not sure how hard it would be to execute. Because if all horses are not created equal it could be very easy to pick the same great horse time after time and then stack up the points and win tourneys....I am not a developer but that poses a tough challenge I would think.

Different variables

I see your point, David. In regards to Nep's wish, I suppose if you had several different files in use of community horses, that even changed from time to time, perhaps this would help ease the repetitive nature of the game, as you (Nep) describe.

To comment further on "your" comments and to see if there's a possible solution to Nep's wish, with so many different variables in horse races ( look at any past performance ) distance, weight carried, surface and surface condition, class, speed ratings, etc. to name but a few.
It could still become difficult to select the best horse to ride. I am new here so don't actually understand how the tournaments are run, so please excuse me if my post isn't appropriate at this time. I'm still learning and do have an interest in all aspects of this game.
When we are in a tournament, do we ride against the computer, or are we riding against other members???? Do you bet as well as ride, or is this an option? See, I'm still learning.

yep....

if u got to choose ur own horses to ride in community mode, then heck , Id choose Secretariat everytime and run him against a weak field , just to win by 50 lengths....that would be hard to work out, and be fair..........ruffiano

I guess

I would think that picking a great horse and just keep winning against lesser horses wouldn't be very fun. I guess there would have to be restrictions on who could be entered in certain races. Must meet some kind of minimum criteria. Personally I want to take horses I've had success on in Allowance and Ungraded Stakes races and be able to run them against the best horses that usually only show up in the Grade 1's. It's not very fun in private mode. I like the stats

Yeh.....

That would be cool to do, like you said, as long as there were certain restrictions involved. I would not run great horses against weak ones like I posted, I just meant there would be ones that would exploit that at some point, but your idea is a pretty good one ....ruffiano

soudnofrum- in tournaments

soudnofrum- in tournaments you ride the same way you do in standard community mode except your scores get posted and counted against all others entered in the tourney. So as of yet you dont ride an actually race with other jockeys.

Oh, I see.

Thanks for explaining this to me. Now I know. I'll have to read the guides that I found yesterday on tournaments. I see the tournament schedule, but don't know how to use it. I'm sure I'll figure that out in time.
I don't know if I'm ready for a tournament yet. I'm not quite where I want to be as a jockey, although improving. Sometimes I think I'm ready, but then go into a slump. I'm aware of a betting tournament. I'll consider that too.

Praise for the game

I also would like to give high praise for this game. I have played a few games over the years, and something was always missing. But this game has hit it. Again Thanks for making a great game.

If you notice in your game

If you notice in your game there is a option to play a tournament race, eventually thats where I suspect you will do tourneys, not community mode, therefore you could run horse files in community mode.

strategy for points

Are these points posted daily, David? If so, I suppose this creates quite a strategic environment in each home, competing against fellow members. I'd imagine if the scores were close ones personal strategy would constantly be changing.

I am not sure I understand

I am not sure I understand the question. I am guessing you mean are the results of everyone participating in the tournament shared daily. The answer is no they are not. The scores and results are not posted to the community until after the tournament is over. You dont know where you stand until it is all said and done.

Did I answer the right question :) ?

You answered my question right.

You sure did, Dave. Thank You. This is probably the best way to go.
