Kindur, I'm afraid to count my Donkeys, especially the FN's.
I don't even want to know!
But, one or two good horses have the potential to pay for everything and then some.
I had a horse win 112K cp, yesterday, in his first tournament.
So hang in there, if you build a quality stable, the wins will come.(Build it,they will come..LOL)
You know the old cliche, "It takes money to make money".
That is a lot of breeding in a short period of time. I suggest doing some more analysis and don't try and reinvent the wheel. Look for succesful pairings to start and look for hot pairs.
I was just going to start a thread like this, and then came to the boards and saw yours!
Here is my story: I've been breeding since the first weekend the Trainer Game was out. I think that was in late April. Since then, I have bred:
*111 horses
*14 are still active
*7 that ended up with the "Inital Speed Rating" of 120+ (one was a donkey who had no courage, two I destroyed by vetting, the others are still running)
I have however discovered something interesting today. If I removed Allegedly from the equation totally and just compared the rest of the horses in my stable:
In Money % with the old version of the HRF client: 20.0%
In Money % with the new version of the HRF client: 39.9%
So I may be an awful breeder and awful, lazy trainer, but the new client version helped me a lot, in that I can really see how they will perform in a tournament before I enter them.
That includes monthly VIP fees, entry/stable/lasix fees, breeding+vet costs, and horse packs. Does not include the money in my "bank" right now.
Look at the trainer tournament leader board and you will see that no one even comes close to getting their money back in community points from tournaments. The highest community point earner has won 12,673,244 points. Subtract that figure from his lifetime community points (38,745,104) and you can see that he is over 26 million points in the hole.
We just have to face the fact that it will cost us to play this game. Then decide if the cost is worth it for the entertainment received.
I am not complaining about the cost of points or the cost of the game. I am prepared to bear that or else I wouldn't be here. I am talking about my uh... efficiency... or lack thereof, as a trainer.
We need a new leaderboard for "game point winnings PER dollar spent" LOL
-There are plenty of members who play for free or little investment and have a blast!
-There are those middle class members who put in some and get a decent stable
-Then there are the Big dogs!
These are the ones who are so competitive that they will do whatever it takes for as long as it takes, wherever it takes them as long as it takes them to the Winners Circle
I remember my very first video game. Atari 2600! Man I loved that game. Ms. Pacman was the best. Anyway, I've always loved games. As I got older, that didn't change too much. I just didn't play them as often. I've had them all playstation, playstatin 2, playstation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360, intellivision, etc. With each new console I bought new games, mostly sports and shooting games. What's interesting is not once did I think, I wonder if I'll ever get money back or break even. Even when I found the original platform of this game about 6 years ago and bought racing files for $60 - $80 a pop did I consider this. I can see where I might cash in some points at sometime and get one of the items in the shop, but that's not why I play. For the most part I play because I love the game and I guess I pay because I think its worth it and want to see it around in five years.
Yes sir, as far as I know I'm the only trainer that has the '5 tournament wins in a single week' badge. There's a 10 tournament wins in a week one, I don't know how'd you'd win 10 in a single week but I guess it would be like winning the triple crown as a trainer on here, seems too unlikely.
Lol thanks Motron. You should get back to training dude, you gotta get White Feather on his way to stud. Look for tournaments with at least 950,000 to a million dollars in preliminary play.
sadly there will be a lot of tournaments for 2yo in he future unfilled, i just don't see the amount of breeding required to keep the amount of 2 yo tournaments turning over like they have in the past, i think spending $10 + vet TRYING to get a decent horse is way too much for a lot of people, i would love to breed like i did in the pass since the new breeding system came out but i won't because the finals are not right plus a few other things i talked with Mike about.
Lol general, White Feather is not overrated, the slop tournament throw that out, he did well in that sprint tournament. White Feather will show good form over middle distances.
Congrats Brian on the new 5 winner in a week badge.... :)
Motron, best advice I ever got was when Brian told me to put one of your favories of mine, Blooms Or Ridges back on lasix. He is doing alright now, better than the bad finishes he was getting.
Guys i dont see what the problem is about breeding.
The game is all about testing OUR skills as trianers. NOT breeding a horse that will never loose.. (ok it would be nice to)
As it is my birthday tomorow i descided luck will be with me for sure so over the last few days i have spent almost 1 million points on horses, vets, tournament entry and lasix..
In total i have bought 21 horses.. i went in hard on the most favored breeders, fager, cielo, bayoko, outstandingly and ruffian..
I threw in some of my personal choices also.......
I now cant sleep because donkeys are very niosey... i got a stable full of sr 75- to-sr 100... LMAOOOOO i can laugh now as i finished crying earlier.
What i had the pleasure in finding after this was many restricted tournaments available so i have managed to enter every horse into somthing easy for them...
I will have some fun here saying i got donkeys and cows BUT bottom line is i promise my stable will climb that huge ladder even if it takes me 25 years.. i will catch ya MO...
Just hope i dont get Eilzimers before i hit half way up the ladder.. lmao
WHATS MY POINT HERE????
It is a game and nobody forces you to spend cash or buy more horses. You even get to breed the first 1 free. I feel no need to complian about my sr's unless it is in humor... however if i get a monster 1 day I WILL BE HERE BRAGGING.... cant brag yet sorry guys.. back to practice byeeeeeeee.
In my opinion they need a much better rating system. Then the horses that are donkeys in disguise still have a chance of winning. Then the breeding is price is irrelevant because there is always a chance of the shrewd trainer recouping their money. In real racing they dont just place horses in any old race. The system in the UK is often on ratings between a certain number say 50 -75. Then they would be handicapped by how close to the top of the ratings limit.
Horse racing is not just about super horses but about trainers pitching their horses in races they think they can win.
Once your horse has run a race in HRF beyond 110 they could be rracing horses capable of 140+. But you do not know that till the tournament starts. So how do you place a horse in a lower grade race when you dont know what you are racing?
lmao billy, you know if i get 1 the world will hear me yelling........
If I ever get one of them puppies, not only will I remain silent,I'll take my sweet time learning all I can about him before he runs his first tourney.
Yeah I know the impulse is to yell and jump....it'll be hard to shut up my trap, but it's better not to alert the competition,it is hard enough as it is.lol
We not just spend money here but we also spend our time :)
Maybe who used us dollar feel they spend a lot but i am from small country and my currency was smallest than us dollars also made some investment..
Currently, 1 usd = RM 3.8 and you can count how much i have spend for 12000000 CP to manage my stables, bred horses and enter touneys :)
I am not the one...many trainer like that here ...
i am also from a small country and my exchange rate is 1usd = jm 88.00 so u can image how much i have spent so far, but i enjoy the game ..so will continue playing until the piggy bank get dry hahahaha
I'll admit, I know little or nothing about the new claiming aspect of game. But, I was thinking, isn't everybody going to get someone elses horse who had a low initial rating??? Who would get rid of a high rated horse? Who would want to buy a low rated horse?
Maybe I don't know enough about this to even comment. Possibly some of the older horses, who haven't done too well, will start appearing as claimers.
It is only good for a Maiden. If your horse has any speed he's a gonner the next claimer
Although you can sneak in a good horse every now and then and win,if it has no PP
IMHO
I agree , any horse with form would be snapped up so fast you would be lucky to find one , auction would be the best place to find horses with form , but i would think you would end up paying through the nose .
craztphil
I'm hoping to get good enough at this that I can spot the horses in claimers that haven't hit any form yet, claim them, and then conquer the world with them.
Actually, now that I read it back it doesn't seem very likely!
As a new guy i think the claiming will work out very good and benifit both members wanting to claim and also members who want to win the race.
From exploring the first few insta i have come to this conclusion.
BREED new horse (nn) +vet = 42000 points
at the moment the sr's in breeding are very low.
CLAIMING a (nn) in the insta wil only cost 20,000 or 40000in the cheaper insta. now most of these have been vetted to but some have not which gives you a chance and improving it.
I would not consider claiming anything above the 50,000 insta as the outlay for pn, fn is enormous compared to breeding.
These are the insta good horses can be placed and win safely i think.
Would anybody claim a fn horse in a 50000 insta????
thats 250,000 poits for a horse you dont know or has not raced yet... HUGE GAMBLE....
In saying this the 50000 insta are a good place for buddies to offload horses easily. if you have a horse of good quality but your tempted to flick it for what ever reason you can inform friends of the sr/potential. then throw it in a 50000 insta.. you get good payout if its pn or fn and your friend gets a good predetermined horse...even though the cost was high you already new what you were buying/claiming.
I feel the higher priced insta can be easily used as the AUCTION platform as we wait the introduction of the auctions..
Want to sell your horse?????
throw it in the insta that gets you the price you want and inform everybody of its TRUE sr...
even provide some shared runs from practice for potential new owners to veiw easy ......
I actually think using the higher cost insta in this way we would not need the auctions added..
HONESTLY do you really think anybody will have good horses for sale in auction under 1 million points???? i think everybody will want top dollar and nothing will sell..
EXAMPLE.....
LORD OUTSTANDING goes up for sale in auction... asking price 1 million points(thats fair price)
Does the LORD have enough racing left in him to get you that million back (+profit)??? i dont think so..
our horses peak at average of 4+yrs and they get automatically retired at 7 or 9.. i think auctions are a good idea BUT i feel the asking prices will be insanly high... to high
my dear friend Whaley snatched the one I was going to claim right out from under me before I even had time to measure his height at the withers..... (the donkey's, not Whaley's)
One of the perks of being a VIP! Sigh.
All the uncertainty, it's of what makes this game so troubling, and so addicting! Dang, I'm gonna need a twelve step program again....
Davo, Lord Outstanding's value is far more than a million community points, if she makes it to stud she'll be a dam forever as long as HRF is up and running. She'll generate a lot of points there.
In over 10,000 breedings there's only one other horse like LO and that's Wells Fargo. Rofl @ a million points as a fair asking price for a horse like LO.
mate it was an example and figure only, the lord was first 1 to come to mind also..(proves i love LO)
I know he is worth LOTS more then that and he would never be for sale anyway... my main point is the overall outcome if members put high prices on their horses in auctions.
No offense meant my friend and i agree extra 2 ,,0's should be on the end of that price.
I understand what you are saying, no hard feelings intended. I wouldn't sell her anyways, for any price. You could go breed 5,000 horses right now and you probably won't get one as good as her, I'm very lucky to have gotten that horse.
But for this topic, I agree that you pay to have fun, you don't really turn out any profits in this game unless you go with a very small stable and use free point offers (unrealistic that you'll go anywhere that way). I've purchased 43,000,000 million points and earned just under 11,000,000 so far with my horses in tournaments. Will they return the rest of the points I purchased with any profit left? Probably not, unless LO over the next 5 years generates a ton of points at stud as a dam.
Anyways, I don't know why HRF doesn't address this thread. If I had my way I would increase to VIP bonuses in tournaments so the payouts are better and more rewarding. But as long as HRF grows and gets new players and more trainer horses then I'm good either way but the prices can be a turnoff for new players.
(Keep in mind tournament entry fees, lasix, race fees, stable fees don't count to the total 43,000,000 points I've purchased, if I included those costs it probably jumps around/over 50,000,000.)
Thats exacty right brian.
I have always felt auctions would be awesome, but, this would have to be set up so it is ONLY pure auction based with starting price say 5000 points... NO BUY-NOW or reserve pricing.
If when the auctions start players begin adding horses with price tags 200,000+ then they will never sell... exactly the same with insta tournaments @50,000+ claim fee...FN horses are 400% + initial fee so you need to pay 250,000 fr a FN horse.. thats far to much for an unknown horse...
This is where i have strong feelings we can utilize the higher price insta as a way of selling horses for a little higher price by simply announcing in forum or pm's the exact quality of the horse in question. this way you can willingly claim a FN horse for 250,000 without having heart attacks when it arrives to your stable.
The low cost insta a perfect as they are now, unkown horses and a risk factor that wont send ya broke if it is a nag..
just my opinion as im bored now so need to type ssomthing hahahahahaaa.
Well Mod's horse won the big claiming race and the horse was claimed.
Decent purse also.
I think the entry fee and claiming price are just about perfect for that level.
The set-up of these initial races seemed right, why mess with it?
Maybe add a 10K level and a 75-100K level, and we're in there.

our horses peak at average of 4+yrs and they get automatically retired at 7 or 9.. i think auctions are a good idea BUT i feel the asking prices will be insanly high... to high

my dear friend Whaley snatched the one I was going to claim right out from under me before I even had time to measure his height at the withers.....
