All you have to do is run races - private mode, community mode, jockey, bet - it doesn't matter, just run! Run 'em while you're watching TV, run races while you're eating dinner, while you're in the shower, in the bathtub, feeding the dog. Hey, if you've got a wireless connection and a good battery, take the dog for a walk and just run those races. The most important thing here is that every race you run you learn something new about the game, you learn how to interact with it whether that means you're becoming a better jockey or a better bettor - it gets you ready for the player tournaments that will soon be reactivated.
