I'm glad that the new game patch has finally been released. Looking forward to weight improvements in the finals. I just noticed and started viewing the Breeders Cup Day videos. I think they just appeared with the new patch. Possibly they were already there.
I'll be viewing more as the day progresses. Looks like eveyone was having a fantastic time playing and comenting on the game.
Was wondering if any of our community members met, Mike and staff?

Everyone is looking forward to the adjusted final BC weights until their horse is in the final and does not win . That happens to be all but 1 horse. With that said this will be interesting for sure to say the least. . The new weight program is NOW IN EFFECT as of today's final races. Looking at yesterdays results it would have made some interesting changes in the finals.

As long as that "1" horse is mine you will see no complaining from me...LOL

Puddles,
I can accept losing to a better horse - that's easy.
It was the "off the wall" winners with low weight assignments that were driving me crazy.

Those days are gone . We will watch the finals now for 30 days or so and if we need to Adjust even more we will . The hard part is done and adjusting from this point on is easy less then 1 hour worth of work. We want to collect about 30 days worth of data before making changes (if we even have to)

Just wondering how the weights will affect the Challenge Buddy aspect. We won't see the weight adjustments prior to accepting the challenge and only see them after the race has been run. As handicappers we should figure what the weights will possbly be (guesstimate the impost) and take that into consideration when making or accepting challenges.

with anyone that has the blue icon by clicking on it. You will go to a screen to begin a chat session. You are also alerted when you receive a response by a notice on the left side of the Home Page. It works well, a good feature.

Love the chat feature. I was working in here this morning, and I see this box at the top that said brianshaw23: Live chat. I clicked and there he was. It worked well, very cool to be able to talk to someone right away.
I noticed that the blue icon only seems to be next to those names of people online. Is that the case?
Anyway, waiting for tonights finals to see what happens with the weights. I never minded losing, my horses lose with or without the weight adjustment...lol
But hey, at least they made it to the final! :)

Richardmacias,
I think now you can be more confident when betting on the horses you consider to be the best.

I have to ask can you give us an idea how you caculate the new weights for the finals? Would give some of us trainers an idea how we can adjust the weights accordingly in advance training mode. Some of us like to set up particular tourneys and have multiple enteries, like real racing and generally it works atleast one or two finish in the placings....smiles

Now that the community knows how to activate the Chat aspect you can go directly and chat/speak to almost any member to get your specific questions asked and answered, including those on weights. Sometimes people don't read every Blog, Topic or Post so they may not see your questions. This helps cut through a lot of those issues, so long as both persons are on line at the same time. Enjoy.

In my opinion, anything mentioned on this thread in regards to the new patch is appropriate and belongs on this thread. I'm sure glad the weight issue has been worked on. I hope for the better.

Go to your "my account" page, click on the "chat preferences tab", and select whether you want the feature turned on or turned off. If it's turned on, everyone else will see a little blue bubble by your handle, but you won't, because the HRF staff assumes that you don't want to chat with yourself, regardless of how great a conversationalist you are. Especially since you wouldn't likely make surly comments to yourself about your spelling errors, so where's the fun in that?
Good luck, and have a happy chatty day! But don't forget to train your horses. Wish I could chat with mine; maybe they could tell me what inducements they prefer to win for me!

Let me be the first and perhaps only trainer to complain about the low weights in tournament finals. I'm a bit concerned about the well-being our nameless virtual jockeys. I've seen some finals where several horses carred imposts of 100lbs or less, and I don't think the highweight was more than 120lbs Let's remember that the weight includes the saddle, too. These poor jocks have got to be starving themselves to death, or binging and purging, or spending countless hours in a hotbox trying to make these weights. So, the next time your horse runs like a donkey even though he's only toting 99 lbs, it may be because the jockey has passed out from exhaustion due to malnutrition. Is there any way to adjust the weights upward so that these poor riders can eat something more substantial than ultra lowfat cream of water soup once in a while?

Thanks Bird, Good point!!
Maybe that's my problem with jockeying. At my weight, how can I ever be competitive!!!?

I recommend trainers read it. Item 10 addresses part of the weight issue formula. If the blog is not on the front part of the community page you will have to go to the previous page as it may have been moved back by other, more recent blog entries.
