Call Me Biased, but I love east coast racing because Saratoga is on the east coast and Saratoga attracts all of the best owners, trainers, jockeys, and horses. On every card there are owners like Dogwood Stables, Phipps Stables, Stronach Stables, Zayat Stables, Shadwell Stables, Darley Stables, Godolphin Stables, and Team Valor Stables. The best of the best trainers come to Saratoga for the meet like Todd Pletcher, Bill Mott, Nick Zito, Bobby Frankel, Rick Dutrow, and Cristophe Clement. The jockeys are the best in the world, like Alan Garcia, Johnny V, Kent Desormeaux, Edgar Prado, Robby Albarado, J. Espinoza, Eibar Coa, and Chopp Chop (Jorge Chavez). Garrett Gomez struggled when he shipped west because he would always get great horses at the Spa. They attract the best horses because they offer the biggest purses in racing, where enlse would you find 72k Maiden races and 90k Allowance Races, and 14 Grade Ones in just 6 weeks. This weekend alone there are 4 Grade Ones and where else would you find a Grade One on a Friday other than the Friday of the BC and Ken Oaks day. All the greatest horses have ran there, Man O War, Secretariat, Holy Bull, Easy Goer, and Alysheba. Saratoga-The Pinnacle Of Racing.

Have to agree with the above. No track in North America can match the tradition and quality to be found at Saratoga. From the jockey colony to the quality of the racing to the track itself, Saratoga is in a class all by itself.
Would be difficult to argue against Saratoga race course. I'd like to go there on vacation someday. In the fifties, when I first started learning about thoroughbred horse racing, I liked how the good New York, Florida and Chicago horses used to come to California to race during the winter months. Mostly to Santa Anita. The good jockeys and trainers came too. Oh, the eastern horses went to Hialea Florida as well as California.
Just make sure to buy tickets for the grandstands well in advance. The ground floor is not pitched correctly and if there are a lot of people you literally can't see anything at all. I was at the Travers this year and I couldn't see anything but was lucky enough to get some tickets at the both that were never picked up. If I didn't get those grandstand tickets it would have been the worst horse racing experience of my life. Also don't bring a folding chair or you will be stuck holding it the whole day.......
