Getting good or great horses is rare, it takes time. Don't give up, you will get the horses you're looking for if you keep going.

Then again, I'm the foolish sort who is always trying to find that one superhorse, instead of managing my stable in a responsible manner. Lately, I've gotten a few in the the 110-120 range as far as SRs are concerned and the rest arearound 95-105 for the most part. That's pretty much the same luck as I've always had with breeding horses. I'd have to say that things haven't changed much at all for me as far as breeding is concerned.

Joe, I have been getting the same as I always got for beginning SR's. About the same as Birdzilla, a few 90-100, I vet all of them, most between 100-110, I vet the half that don't have courage or arent consistant, and a few from 111-120, only vetted a couple of those. I have only gotten 3 over 120, and of those, 2 have no courage, they are consistant though, consistantly running at the back of the pack...lol
I am not looking for that super horse that others seem to be getting. The chances of getting one are slim anyway. However, I have several that can hold their own and win tourney finals, but they haven't gone up against the real super horses yet. But I think they should do fine against them though, may not win, but even in the money is fine with me.

I have had the same experiences expressed by birdzilla and others. Most of the horses I breed come back in the 95-110 range. I practically vet all of them to try and get in the 110 and above range. I think its hard to be competitive otherwise. Breeding seems to be mostly luck of the draw with some being more fortunate then others. Its tough, I keep trying to find solutions and upgrade my stable. SR are not everything, but it still has to be somewhat high to make them competitive.

I agree with you dbacks the high initial Sr helps alot ..ex..a horse with sr105 has lot of courage and consistency and a horse with a sr with of 115 with lot of courage and consistency gonna beat you..therefore alll breeder will always be looking for that initial high sr

First off you need to find the "hot trends" I suggest following daily results of 2 yr old races and if you find a high speed rating check out the combo and if it's a recent bred horse breed that combo as you will more then likely find good results. Now mind you there's no guarantee!!
I personally never vet a horse 100 or under.

It can be brutal at time. I've bred, I believe, 68 horses. I have gotten two that were 120+. And one of those I had to vet to get him there. Prior to that he could not run a 100 SR. That was Allegedly.
1 year 28 weeks
but he ran like a tortoise in his first race! I'll give him another go, but i'm not holding my breath. Don't wanna vet him yet coz he may come back even worse, but he's also my best rating so far.....so i dunno, it's a bit confusing!!??

It ain't usually fun, that's for sure.

riderking, I have done what Mod suggests, and checked 2 yo horses that win even prelims. Tonight as an example, I had a new horse run against a horse with one of the highest SR's in the game. It was just a prelim, but my horse came away with a 147+ SR chasing down the super horse that had a 160+ SR. Both my horse and the other horse have the same sire and dam. I look for trends like that also. I also check horses that have made it on the records leader board. You will notice, that a lot of the horses breaking records have the same sire and dam also. When checking records though, make sure you check to see how onld the horse is, it might be fram a pair that isn't hot anymore.
I have had the same exact thing happen as mrmojok, with my 2 best horses, one is older and the other is a new baby, just ran tonight in his first prelim. He is the horse mentioned above. But both of my best couldn't run above a 100 SR. I vetted them and they both run 125+ SR's now. Take note that those SR's are on sloppy, so they are inflated, that is why I go by which horses they can beat in training from my files. Really that is the best way.

I have run almost 100 races and my highest SR is 114,I can't seem to breed those good horses but I have won almost 100,0000 earnings with a horse that has an sr of 94...Stan

I have 2 older horses in the 90's SR. They both can hold their own. They both have a lot of courage and stamina. They are just good solid horses, and I don't enter them over their heads if I can help it. Most of my horses are in the teens also, I have 4 over 120+, 3 are real good, The kicker is, they were vetted. But the 4th one came to me as a 123 SR, he hasn't been vetted. He has no courage, my horses in the teens beat him all the time. Becaause of training, I know he will get better when he ages, so I will hold on to him. It took me a couple of months before I got my first horse over 120. Just keep trying, and you will get some over 120. I still haven't had one over a 128, except those 'special traits' horses, and they don't count. They are all worse than donkeys in tourneys.

LOL... I've never bred to special trait horses, not once. I was going to breed one before the client to get one that could challenge LO in private mode but the new client changed my plans.
I have too many 127s+ in my stable, I wish I could give one to you. Too bad when the auction program comes out you can't sell previously bred horses.
25 weeks 1 day
I had a lot of those special traits horses, they were awesome to train with before the new client. That is how I found out how far I could take my best horse before someone coiuld beat him. Thing was, he never ran over a 120's+ until I trained him with my champs file horses, then it wenbt up to the 140's. I had to train with my monster 'special traits' to get him past that, and he did, the highest he ran though is a 160+ in training. But those 'traits' would have been able to push Lord Outstanding, and I am betting she would have went over the top.
Yeah, I know, I thought that the auction program would include the horses we already had at first. If it did I would get one of your 127+. I am kind of behind on most of the hot combos. By the time I get ready to get some more, the combos have changed, I like to stick with a couple of my favorites though. And my best horse was one of the hot combos that was kept pretty quiet until after they weren't a hot combo anymore. Riva Ridge x Ruffian. I was buddies with craztphil, when he got Run River Run, and tried that combo until I got several that were pretty super horses, but I messed up with all but one of them. Retired them..... oops, my bad!
Anyway, I just keep checking on the 2 yo winners and see how many that are within the last week that have the same parents. I have hit all 3 of my latest over 120+ that way. And actually only bred 40, that isn't that many to get 3 really good horses. I am not near where some of you guys are with getting the hot combos, but I am doing OK.

I have to change a typo in my last post... I wrote: I WAS buddies with craztphil at the time he got Run River Run. Well, I am STILL buddies with him. Actually, Phil is the first buddy that contacted me. He and I have done a lot of brainstorming and experimenting with our horses together, so I don't want Phil to think I love him anymore....lol
He is another great one that will help you out with most anything, the same as Mod and some of the others. The list is way too long to mention everyone..... :)

Just one question why in the world would you Vet a 122,no courage?Stan
19 hours 13 min
I usually vet anything under 123 unless they impress me in training with their consistency/courage which they usually do not.

Because he has too many horses in the 120's. He wants something different. :(

as i said previously, my BEST is a 120! Knowing MY luck also, it would come back as an 80! So unless someone can prove me 100% otherwise that it's gonna go up, thats where he's staying!!
Think we came from the same deck of cards stan, and got the 2's!!! LOL

I am with you Mod, I would NEVER vet a 120. My 118 may come in second, but it works for me.
