in this game these horses would be dq 10 x a race. plus a horse right next to mine all of a sudden is directly in front of me without ever passing my horse but actually passing THRU my horse.i like that this game is hard but not SUPERNATURAL hard.why is it when the ai jockeys whip the horse the horse slows down. it looks silly and would like to see NO whipping by any of the jockeys. still waiting for 70s horse file to be released---anyone know when?
I have never been a steward. But in this game there are horses who are not trying to win ,rather their sole purpose is to prevent you from winning. But you have to know that going in.Horses make moves in this game that make no sense.First they go in then you move to go out they are right back in your path, then you go in they go in.I once had 3 horses line up across the track and stay there for several furlongs just to force me 4 wide.
But i have seen incidence in REAL RACING That defied reason also.
I had a 48-1 taken down in a MAIDEN race who i had hooked with a 20-1 for a BOXCAR exacta.Me and my buddies watched the replay and we have seen alot worse not taken down.So i was counting my money when the board went blank and so did my bankroll. What was bad about that stewards seem to be more lenient in maidens. Not this time.
As far as this game you have to sense when you are getting surrounded and make the necessary adjustments.
I thought that running most races on tracks where there would be no turns might help.
But if you dont get out of the pack and to the outside you might just get boxed in with no where to run and the next thing you know your horse has pulled up ,lost momentum and suddenly you went from 3 lengths off the lead to the back of the pack.
But thats part of the fun of the game.
I love this game ....!!! cant get enough of it really, but you guys should ask my gf what kind of language I use when I get hammered by a formation of horses not even trying to win , but to only block you! lol....I cant wait till the trainer game comes out, I will never leave the house then :)
I dont know if I see the situation as horses not trying to win. I just see it as the position the horse has quite often around a turn. Horses have a delayed drift out and if a horse along side of them does not have a evere drift out then the inside horse has nowhere to go but slow down. The fact they are in your path, just by chance. The rail usually opens up for me at some point....but sometime it does not. It is my choice if I think I have the best horse....to wait the rail out or swing wide or make a move up the middle. Seems pretty good to me.
But i have to disagree just alittle, i have had horse who are five wide, while i'm on the rail and they come all the way down in front of me and when i go to move to the outside guess what they move outside or when they slow me down enough they go right back to five wide. So i think they move in front of my intentionally. And i really hate the pass through my horse by the horse next to me. The bad words just start to flow. Great game but boy it can drive you nuts.
hmmm, I'll have to keep an eye out for that. But I have seen horses drift out wider on me when I swing to the outside. But that happens in real life too
You know i don't mind the drift out, because it does happen in real life, it's the come all the way down and then go all the way back out that drives me nuts.
its frustrating, but this is a game after all...u have to realize if it werent for the horses trying to block u and make it hard, we would win every race with a favorite....so I can see why they have to do it...in real , yes they would be disqualified or taken down a position or 2.....this game rocks ! :)
Yeah it's annoying as hell but without slower horses blocking you it would be really easy to win races with closers just by hugging the rail. In my experiences the rail always opens up. You just have to wait it out and be ready to make your move quickly. It usually happens with about 2 furlongs to go.
I used to get frustrated when a horse was all over the track trying to block me. I go out, he goes out. I go in, he goes in. The bottom line is it's part of the game and keeps things interesting. Now I find myself trying to out smart them. For example, instead of trying to grab the rail right away, I tend to stay wide down the back stretch, then dart in at the last second on the turn to try to throw them off on what I really want to do.
Hi,
I'm very new to this, but I love it. I am from Australia and think that it's great. It is a shame you can't lodge an objection/Protest after the race.
Hoof, I agree with you. I've noticed the same thing. I understand what others are saying about computer horses blocking you. I see that too. I'm sure we all see this, the more games we play. However, I have a different slant on this. If you're on a come from behind horse and like the idea of saving ground along the rail that final 1/4 mile , you're going to see it repeatedly opening and closing. Take advantage of this. When the horse in front of you drifts out hit the arrow key fast before he/she has a chance to drift back over tho the rail, blocking you. This seems to happen in every race. You'll be passing them all, one by one.
So, you take the front runners on, in this fashion, all through the stretch. It's all about timing, from my experiences. If you have a good enough horse and have reserved energy, you have a good chance of being the first under the wire. I start taking advantage of this type situation just as they come into the stretch, usually with 2 furlongs left. Of course, as in real life racing, there are times that the horse in front of you doesn't drift out and you are effectively blocked and loose all chance of winning.
I like the idea of inquiry's and disqualifications worked into the game. I'm wondering if the AI is intelligent enough to have the horses change leads coming into the stretch, perhaps with a prompt from us???
In real life, horses tiring always veer in and out. Also in real life, jockeys on tiring horses will also try and switch their leads to veer out into the path of other horses in the stretch, not necessarily to interfere with them, but to force them to change leads and break their momentum as well. I see no real problem with the way the game handles interference and such. I have a game on Playstation 2 that generates inquiries and it just turns out to be lame more times than not. After all fellas, it is a sport, gotta have the horse with the heart who's gonna find a way. Can't have 'em all handed to you! Good luck!

you are not allowed to move in the path of a horse that is moving towards you if it will effect his run .
Ive been on purposely blocked over 1000 times lol, where can i file a Inquiry ...hahaha :)

But do you get penalised or desquolified because your trying to block another horse which is trying to go past you?
rudyking.

I have no luck on the rail unless its a sprint and i have the fastest horse out of the gate and i can keepanother horse from getting in front of me.

lol that was crazy what u said, u r cool man
Thanks for the reply, yeah maybe your right about this game when it comes to the other horses to block you because else it would be easy for us all.
rudyking.

blocking is not allowed .but boxing the horse in is.As long as no horses bumped eachother.
