So I have just jockeyed my 1000th race in community mode here are my observations and stats: (i have all the horse files too)

1000 races
323 wins
213 places
138 shows
134.90 pts per start
323 win %
67.5% in money finished

  • I am only competitive jockeying horses 4 to 1 or better
  • If I take a horse 5 to 1 to 6 to 1 my win % drops to below 5%
  • If I take a horse 7 to 1 or worse my win% drops to below 1%
  • I need early speed in races under 5.5 furlongs
  • Racing on the rail is death and cant be done
  • Longshots over 10 to 1 are near impossible for me to win, the PC seems to bring home longshots once in a while
  • I cant win 1 mile and 1/2 races, I think I have won only a couple of them
  • In races over 1 mile if you find a horse which is a clear favorite but has a poor stamina rating, they are easy to jockey home as winners
  • The Black and Sagr have epic battles and if you stay close to the pace you will nose out Sagr most of the time
  • Zenyatta sux in the horse files
  • Knowing how far to the first turn is crucial when running sprint races with an outside post
  • hitting f4 is the greatest feature ever, but has cost me at least 50 races by fast forward to much
  • Anyone who has a pps over 250 in community mode is cheating or has figured an exploit in the system
  • Dr Fager is money

My Dearest Dede

The "C" word eh?
Let the games begin,LOL

I don't like to ride anything under a 5:1.For sprints(5-8f) 90% of the time you must ride one of the top 3.
A 1 mile and 1 1/6 race is a little better for longshots but not that good.
1 1/8 and up,now we're talking. You have to look at the stats to find that one horse who can bring in the money,NOT win! You are much better off taking a second or third with say a 20+ longshot than to win with a favorite.(PPS wise)
Hole shot horses are the key to successful longshot rides.

The Black,Sagr and don't blow out the "Flame"
The Black runs mid 160s and i can on occasion beat him with Flame.

Remember you can tell when to kick your horse by how much effort he has while racing.Sprint races you don't kick until 2f to go if he's a front runner.
Long races, back runners are the best.I usually kick em' at 5f to go and only once every .5f You will blow past the competition

My Lifetime Stats

I guess I'm a cheater who learned to exploit the system???
Are you kidding me? PPS over the last 2 months is probably over 350. There is plenty on here that have similar stats who i'm sure aren't exploiting the system. Great write up though other than that comment at the end.

Informative Post Dede but....

Ive had almost 4000 rides now with a lot of tournament success, and have a few different perspectives...

I rarely ride horses under 5/1 (unless its a great chance against inferior horses). Here are my observations and a few tips;
*Sprint races 5 to 6F require on pace runners on or near the rail. Never put your horse at full speed in the first 3.0Furlongs.
*6.5 Furlongs require patience bys settling your horse 3 bars from top speed preferrably on the rail.
*7 to 7.5F can be won by mid pack and even far back horses given a rails run and some luck.
*8 to 9.5F best for mid to far back horses. Most long shots above 20/1 come from these races with good patient rides on the inside.
*10 to 12f best with Far Back horses or, flexible horses ridden far back. Launch horses at 1.5F from home. (These are the easiest races to win IMO)

Here are some tips for horses at different distances with good odds;
*Ira Fun is awesome over 5.0 to 6.0 Furlongs
*Watch my Dust 7.0F
*Val Helsing 8.0F
*In My Dust 9.0F(in weak fields)
*Sure Bet, On The Prowl, Nine Eyed Nancy, Lovin It 10F
*Chelsea Dream 12.0F

Yes, Zenyatta "sux" but remember that some horses race well over specific distances. Take your example Zenyatta, he is great from 7.5 to 8.5 Furlongs and always massive odds, and is one of my favourite rides with a lot of success.

F3 and F4 are great buttons, especially for 12Furlong races. I agree its easy to get carried away pressing it and losing races.

250pps is really easy to achieve when you play properly. Once you are familiar with riding longer priced runners under the right conditions, your pps can easily be raised. I always enter a tourney trying to get 350pps or better.

If you ask the more accomplished jockeys in HRF like Motron, Batabatuta, BHDCWT1, Ronwar, Gaiwaterhouse, Lele77 and Skillet 07 they will probably agree. The only way to get better is to experiment with longshots as it is a fact that horse odds are not indicative of the horses chance. (with exception to horses like Jury Duty, Daisy Cutter, King TNT etc....)

the original post was in

the original post was in game stats just for the current client engine. My Lifetime stats are these:

Time Frame Record St-1-2-3-4 Points Earned Points Per Start Rank by Pts/Start Rank by Total Wins
Life Time 2992-1060-668-411-263 430635 143.929 1498 of 38959 102 of 38959

why are only cheaters responding to my post ? :) (just having a little fun...no better way to get people to respond then talk about pps)

**ps scarily similar stats to bhdcwt1 as for starts and finishes

LMAO

"why are only cheaters responding to my post ?" LOL
Dede, that was a classic line. I was drinking water when I read it and almost drowned.

My stats are:
3157-1058-691-439-297 782613 247.898 291 of 38959 99 of 38959

My thoughts are this is the best damn horse racing game in the world and getting better! Sure there are some wrinkles that are being ironed out, but all things considered - THE BEST! PERIOD!

May they all come home safely!!!
