Not to early to start thinking about what is shaping up as a very good race.
From the DRF
"With Big Brown passing the Travers, the field for that $1 million race could come up relatively deep. Harlem Rocker, who is 4 for 4 on dirt, and Macho Again and Pyro, the first two finishers from the Jim Dandy, head the field. Also pointing to the race are Belmont Stakes winner Da' Tara, Swaps winner Tres Borrachos, Santa Anita Derby winner Colonel John, Mambo in Seattle, You and I Forever, Tale of Ekati, Acai, and Court Vision."
Who do you think wins in a fantasy game match-up? I'll let you know in a sec...

I like Court Vision I think he is coming into his own
This is what I came up with
Tale of Ekati - 7/2
Court Vision - 20
Da Tara - 34
Macho Again - 11
Colonel John - 5
Harlem Rocker - 7/5
Pyro - 5/2
Over a fast strip, Da Tara got away with painfully slow splits of 24:1, 48:4, 113:1 but couldn't hold off Colonel John who took over after a mile in 138:1 (ouch!) He was quickly ran down by Pyro who opened up quickly and kept Harlem Rocker at bay in 202:2 with a speed rating of 97
Pyro 2 3/4
Harlem Rocker 1/2
Tale of Ekati 1 1/4
Macho Again 1 3/4
Colonel John 1 1/4
Court Vision 2 3/4
Da Tara

May they all come home safely!!!
I like Tale Of Ekati in this one. You can toss his Belmont window out. While most were wondering why Big Brown got beat, Tale Of Ekati actually had a loose shoe as well as Big Brown.
Tagg said he really needed to get a race in him before the Travers (which is there main goal) so they went with the Dandy.
Harlem Rocker will also show up and you know your going to get a good effort from Pyro, Macho Again, and Colonel John. I don't know if Court Vision and Da' Tara are going to factor into this race, but you never know.
This looks to be one of the best 3 year old races of the year with the exception of the Derby. Even without Big Brown this will be a great race, I wish Big Brown was running because I can see 4 horses in this race that can beat him...that would mean a better price for me because Big Brown would go off around 1-5 with the way the public and media love him so much.
I'm with you on Tale of Ekati. He was my derby horse. I get the felling if you you're able to catch the tri and super in this race you're going to have to go to the special window. I think there will a couple surprises with these improving 3 year olds.

May they all come home safely!!!
If we get those odds - come race day! I highly doubt 7-2 on Tale of Ekati. Even 5-2 on Pyro has to make a gambler smile an pony up some serious money for the Cha-ching! It comes down to the Spa an how deep the dirt track will be. Da Tara isn't that good of a horse just got a dream trip in the belmont. CJ can't run for anything on dirt - would love to see this horse on TURF! On a side note - in the past we horse better's in general had a clear 2nd choice 3 year old - in Curlin an Flower Alley in the past this year we aren't so blessed. :>
it is almost here. Entries will be posted tomorrow, I think.
Can this be considered the best race of the meet? I think the 3 year old division was pretty weak early but they are getting things together now. It's not as weak as I thought it was but it surely wasn't great.
However, this is shaping up to be a nice race. Hopefully we can get a pre-built race?
Ooh. Exciting. :) I can't wait to see this race. I'm rooting for Pyro all the way - liked him since the Champagne and still think he's great. Even if he didn't perform to his best in the Derby. But Tale of Ekati is definitely a contendor.
I tjust ran my sim (minus Amped, tres Barrachos, Tizbig and Mambo in Seattle)....and Harlem Rocker is a super horse in this file and blows away the field every time...
Yes...
But let's wait to see the prebuilt race they will give us Friday. I have an idea it may play out a bit differently!
I hope because I dont think Harlem Rocker is THAT superhorse
It sounds like a lot of people are prepared to pretty much count Da' Tara out of this one. What are your views on him?
.... Tizbig just ran in a 1 1/8 miles race at Saratoga... on SUNDAY?!?!?
And also--- Cool Coal Man, Amped, and Da' Tara all have the same owner and trainer. Is Zito going to send Amped out as a rabbit, and have the other two stalk behind?
In orded for Da' Tara to have a shot he needs the lead. After he gets the lead he will have to slow the pace down as much as he can to where he is liking it. I don't want to say his Belmont was a fluke, but if that ran that race 10 times he may have gotten lucky and 2.
what about this Mambo in Seattle? He's run some good workouts of late.
i think pyro is going to win then macho again, court vision, harlem rocker, amped, colonel john, tale of ekati, tres borrachos, mambo in seattle, cool coal man, tizbig, and da' tara.
...The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishers, that is.
A $10 Exacta 9(mambo)-11(Pyro), and a 10$ Trifecta 9-11-8(Harlem). Only thing I didn't figure on was Colonel John, whom I never gave a lot of consideration. Funny how that works out, eh!!!
One thing to keep in mind here is that this was Mambo In Seattle's official Coming-Out party. His first G1, and he loses in a photo. I will be watching him...
Another thing to keep in mind is Da' Tara fading. Again.
I guess I might give up on Tale of Ekati now.
Any other tales of woe? Or even better, tales of triumph?
Wish Pyro hadn't gotten caught in all that traffic in the stretch. I still like him, but have to say he hasn't impressed me much as of late. I did notice that when he did get in the clear it took him a while to get rolling. Better luck next time, my boy, and in the meantime, that was a great race on Mambo In Seattle's and Colonel John's parts. :)
And on the undercard, I liked both Shakis and Visionaire in their respective races. So I guess I can deal with Pyro's third place effort.
Pyro was pulled back at the beginning because of his bad post and made up a ton of ground to even get 3rd. He was blocked in during his normal power stretch run and just managed to find a hole between Da'tara and Harlem Rocker. Just another bad trip for Pyro.
I'm real high on Colonel John. I think he's finally reaching peak form. Sometimes though, a hard fought stretch run to the finish, like his last race, where he won by a very short nose, takes a lot out of a horse. Any horse. This must be considered. IMHO
Pyro continues to always be a major threat. Hard to beat at his best. Looks like a nice competitive race.
