I there a list of race times and distances. Other than typing in a name to find out how that horse did. I would like to find a better way of findidng out how close I get to a track record for a distance.

you mean under your account page, right? That is the only way I know of finding best time at distances...great feature. If there is another way it may be something the team is working on and I dont know about it yet.
