Fantasy Kentucky Derby
11 of the last 12 Kentucky Derbies got together for the Champion of Champions. Charismatic was a late scratch. The odds:
1 Funny Cide 20:1
2 Real Quiet 34:1
3 Smary Jones 7:2
4 Silver Charm 7:2
5 Fusaichi Pegasus 23:1
6 Monarchos 21:1
7 Big Brown 9:1
8 Street Sense 22:1
9 War Emblem 6:1
10 Barbaro 2:1
11 Giacomo 79:1
All runners carried 126. The Fractions were hot for a 1 1/4. War Emblem led the way thru fractions of 22:4, 45:4 before being overtaken by Silver Charm in 109:3 and that one maintained his lead thru 135:1. Funny Cide who had a ground saving trip loomed large with 2 furlongs to run but couldn't maintain his charge. Smarty Jones and Barbaro raced as a team looking to gun down the leader with a furlong to go as Silver Charm seemed to be waiting on horses. Street Sense arrived on the scene late after encoutering trouble. Thrilling stretch run with the Barbaro just getting up to nip Silver Charm who ran a big race. Smarty Jones had to settle for third. The final time 2:00 on a fast track

I need to get some of those files. I wanna see how good FuPeg and Point Given are. Barbaro is deadly in this game. He never breaks from the gate poorly and always puts himself in perfect stalking position.

Yea, the game wouldn't allow Silver Charm to open up. He was doing that thing where you can't go faster unless someone is close to you, which allowed Barbaro to get him at the wire. It was very much like his Belmont. Silver Charm is one of my all-time favorites.

Touch Gold's performance in the Preakness ,recovering from that disastrous fall at the start ,only to recover and still get 4th.put me on him right after the finish of the Preakness.AOL used to have a horse race chat room and i was in there after the Preakness and was the only one talking up touch gold.I was surprised because that chat room had owners and trainers in it all the time .All any one would talK about was SILVER CHARM WAS GOING TO WIN THE TRIPLE CROWN
SILVER CHARM IN HIS DEFENSE TOOK ON 4 SEPARATE CHALLENGES In THAT BELMONT.It was a bitter loss .I definitely hit the exacta but did feel that Free House got lucky to get 2nd only because Silver Charm was softened up .I was disappointed in the price of 5/2 on touch gold.I F HE HADN'T BEEN PART OF AN ENTRY I THINK THE ODDS WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER.I dont think Barbaro
could have run with Silver Charm and beaten him in a full field or a match race.

And there off, War emblem leads followed by Big Brown, next is Smarty Jones, then Monarchos, Barbaro, Real Quiet, Funny Cide, Street Sense, Silver Charm (missed the break), and Giacomo. War Emblem set qick fractions (22,46) Then faltered to Big Brown at the entrance to the far turn. Smarty Jones couldn't mount a rally and fell back. Monarchos follwed Smarty to the back, but Barbaro stalked Big Brown into the stretch with Street Sense making a huge rally on the rail. Real Quiet rallied but couldn't sustain it. Funny Cide and Giacomo had nothing left and Silver Charm had too be used up too early. Barbaro flew by Big Brown and Big Brown fell back into third. Street Sense rode the rail to victory.
