I've noticed that most of our members really enjoy riding/jockeying in our game - and, that's great. Clearly, that's what makes our action racing game so much fun and exciting - turning for home, noticing the energy bar is high, swinging the horse 3 to 4-wide off the final bend and driving hard to catch the leaders. Yep, that is really a big benefit of our 3D action games.
Let's forget about that for a second and talk about something else that's really exciting - the betting game and the betting tournaments. This part of our software program requires strategizing a little bit more than the jockey game and really thinking things through. In the betting game, it's all about ROI (return on investment). It works the same way as most skill games. To maximize your ROI, you really need to not only understand the game, but also understand how to read the past performance lines and evaluate each horse on his ability. Then, look at all the thoroughbreds as a group and evaluate how they will fare racing against each other. You see, in real racing, it's not always the best horse that wins. The smart handicapper doesn't necessarily look for the fastest horse or the one that had the best speed rating last time out. He looks at all the contenders, tries to figure out how the pace will set up, what the strategy will be from the jockeys and then identifies which animal will get the right trip. In other words, which horse will be sitting in perfect position when he battles down the stretch to make his move and win the race, crossing the finish line first.
I personally love the betting tournaments and I wish I was able to participate in them, but I'm not. I think there are so many opportunities to win those tournaments because most of our gamers playing in them aren't really thinking things through.
There was a great blog post yesterday by FantasyHandicapper. If you read that blog - he talks about stamina levels, speed ability and running style - you can almost draw out a game plan and picture in your mind how the computer will run the race. This will help you identify the key contenders. If you practice this strategy over and over, make notes before you actually run the race, then refer to those notes once the results are posted and even use the race replay feature so you can review closely the actions of each horse, you're going to quickly understand how the betting game works and take advantage of it. What does this mean? Big point payoffs - less competition - and the opportunity to fatten your bankroll when you really want to test your skill in our game whether it's future jockey or betting tournaments, or both.
I know FantasyHandicapper mentioned this yesterday, but I really feel I need to reiterate the importance of learning how to read the past performance lines. For most of our players, when they first look at all these numbes and abbreviated terms, they may feel a little overwhelmed. But, I promise you that if you review our Handicapping Guide, which can be found under Game & Community Info from the left-hand navigation menu, and really take your time when reading it, I've got a feeling that sooner than later you'll be saying, "Oh, I got it!" and that's when you're going to have a blast with our 3D racing game. Yes, I know jockeying both the community horses and the champion horses inside our race files found in our store are a lot of fun. I know when you ride horses like Big Brown and Curlin or John Henry, Man O' War, your imagination can take you to placeos and really get your heart pounding. But, give the betting game a chance and enter some of our betting tournaments. You're gonna love it. Now, go win a race (in the betting game)!

The Betting Game
Hey...all you guys that aren't playing the betting game, you are missing out! That's one of my favorite parts - I love strategizing. It's such a different kind of playing and challenges me in a completely different way. Probably one of my favorite parts of playing in the virtual horse racing game is competing in the betting tournaments. Can't wait to play more!
