The Breeders' Cup Classic: greatest finishes - Part III, the 2000's

The new century has seen the original concept of the Breeders' Cup Championship, to create a Super Bowl of racing, take full flight. To date, the eight Classics that have been run in the new century have featured some stirring finishes.

Tiznow is the only horse so far to win the Classic twice, in 2000 and 2001, but he really had to earn those victories. Watch the 2000 renewal as Giant's Causeway, a Grade I turf champion, made his very first start on dirt and gave Tiznow a run for his money, literally:

Tiznow was only 3 in 2000 (one of eight such horses to win the Classic thus far), and he was back for more in the 2001 Classic. The race was run at Belmont Park, and the crowd that day saw Tiznow challenged by Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Sakhee, in fact taking the lead briefly at the top of the stretch. Watch the incredible drama as jockey Chris McCarron asked Tiznow for everything he had:

2003 was the 20th running of the Classic, so the fans wanted something special. They got it when Medaglia D'Oro and Congaree hooked up for a furious battle down the stretch. There was only one problem: they forgot about Pleasantly Perfect!

With Barbaro tragically injured in the 2006 Preakness, many experts thought that Bernardini, who had won six straight coming into the race, would win easily. But Argentina-bred Invasor spoiled the fun:

We have most of these amazing champion horses available to ride and train to victory right here at Horse Racing Fantasy; you can even run Barbaro in the Classic if you'd like, to see if he can beat Invasor and Bernardini. Check it out!
