It was a great weekend of racing and yesterday's two graded stake races were part of the reason why 35,000 people showed up at Saratoga Race Course in up state New York. Horse race trainer Robert Ribaudo got the first Grade
1 victory of his career last summer when Grand Couturier flew up the rail to win the Sword Dancer Invitational in grand racing style.

Winning that race last year was so big that Ribaudo the trainer wanted seconds with the same horse.(I wonder if he bet the horse that day)

With that said, Ribaudo had planned all year long to bring Grand Couturier back again to try to win the 34th running of the half million dollar purse, Sword Dancer at a mile and a half on the turf at Saratoga Race track in New York .. His vision and hard work were rewarded when the 5-year-old horse, shot up the rail with a two-length victory over the old man Better Talk Now. The race was timed in in 2:36. a decent performance on this track surface under good weather conditions .

Last year, Grand Couturier ran sixth in the Breeders cup Turf over the soft going at Monmouth Park(Remember that very wet day at the track).The turf course was so soft and hard to get a hold of for all the horses racing over it.

It was Grand Couturier sixth win in his racing history, and because the Sword Dancer was part of the Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" Challenge, Grand Couturier has now automatically qualified for the $3 million Breeders'
Cup Turf at Santa Anita park in Arcadia California this October on Breeders Cup weekend . "We're not sure about the Breeders' Cup," Ribaudo was quoted saying"We're not sure about the Breeders' Cup,"and then he went on to say "California is a little different than Monmouth park . We'll take it one race at a time. We have to get something in between. We haven't looked that far ahead. We are certainly eligible and ready."

Ribaudo originally wanted jockey Calvin Borel, who rode Grand Couturier in the 2007 Sword Dancer, but Ribaudo was more than happy to get the young hot
Jockey Alan Garcia, who earlier this year guided Da' Tara to a wire to
wire front running win in the Belmont Stakes, ruining Big Brown's chance to become horse racing's 12th Triple Crown winner.
