Today we began the final round of testing for the new and exciting head-to-head Horse Challenge Program. With this feature, you will be able to create or participate in open challenges created by other players for head-to-head horse racing action. Player-created challenges are active for 30 minutes and any player in the community can accept a challenge as long as the horses are comparable in their birth speed ratings. For now, we’re offering challenges on two surfaces – Dirt Fast and Sand Fast. We will add other surfaces in the near future.
This feature provides instant racing action for horses that are not currently active in trainer tournaments. You can view the races in the web player or download the races to your desktop client. The moment a player accepts another player’s open challenge, the race is automatically run and is instantly available for viewing. The Challenge Program is another exciting new feature to our horse racing game.
From a statistical standpoint, challenge races are kept separate from a horse’s normal tournament results.
Thinking about retiring a horse that is not doing well? You might want to try him in the Challenge Program. Some horses perform better in head-to-head racing action.
The Horse Challenge Program will be available early next week.
I’m still a few days away from a full update. One final note I wanted to mention is that we are in the final testing of a new configuration of our servers and a modified database. We have spent three-and-a-half months on this project, which has significantly increased site speed. According to the testing servers, we have reduced the load time for each page by over 70%. We are anticipating a major performance increase in the way all pages load. We’re targeting a release date of February 23, but it may actually be sooner.
