Over the last two days, we started migrating small amounts of data to our new server farm. A migration is a slow process and is taking longer than we realized. Simultaneously, we're dealing with excessively large volumes of traffic due to the Triple Crown racing season. We will stop data migration and continue again Tuesday. What we're trying to avoid is having the site down for more than just a few hours. The concept of being down for 24 hours is not acceptable, especially a week before the Kentucky Derby. There will be times over the next week when we continue again with the data migration through the large traffic surges when you will experience a slow reaction time depending on the queries you're making.
There are three things happening simultaneously - the update from one platform to another; a completely new server farm for faster expansion and growth needed; and the implementation of our web-based game. Implementing all three of these during the biggest month of racing will be a little tricky, but we'll get it done and I'm determined to get it done with as little downtime as possible.

That is a huge undertaking to do all at once but we all know you and the team are focused and very determined to complete this multi-task job this month. Good luck to everyone involved. Wow, a server farm. That sounds very massive and something like Google setup a few years ago.
For those few if anyone that do not know this, The Kentucky Derby is always held on the first Saturday in May.
I certainly will continue to be very patient as I have just enough computer experience to comprehend the immensity of your task. I will pray that not very many bugs will haunt you. You have my very best will. My expectation is that in the end, everything will turn out to be more than worthwhile. Many, many virtual hugs and pats on the back for this project. schipgal

I noticed today for about an hour and a half the site was down. That was great cause that meant more progress on the new site!!!
