Hey everyone! I’ve had a lot of people ask me for ways to be more successful in playing the fantasy game, so I wanted to give you guys some advice about how you can begin to accomplish that. If I had to sum it up in just two words, they would be “keep trying.” I’ve learned that to be successful in the game, or in horse racing, you have to keep trying and never give up. As most of you probably know, I won the Eclipse Award for apprentice jockey last year. But a lot of people don’t know that it took me 23 races to get my very first win. I ran my first race at Louisiana Downs when I was sixteen. It definitely didn’t go well. My horse wanted to lug out and broke out the six hole, then stayed there. Twenty-three races later, I finally took home my first win.
When you’re playing the game, it’s really important to remember that it is very much like a real race. So that’s how you have to treat it. I’ve found that it’s one of the biggest differences between this game and other computer games. In other games, you can just keep whipping the horse and you’ll win almost every time. But this one is different. It’s so much like a real game that it requires a lot of technique and finesse to get really good at it – which helps you feel like you’re actually in the race, rather than playing a game. There are small things you can do to help improve your performance in the game just like I would try to improve my performance in a real race. For example, you don’t want to use the whip too much like you might in another type of computer game – I found that out the hard way! But always remember, the key is to have fun and keep trying. Because the game’s so much like racing, it makes it exciting like a real race – you never know what’s going to happen next. So until next time…have fun and keep playing!

How do you cue the whip in this game, it just whips the horse whenever. Joe, you should come to the NYRA later in your career and follow the path set by Pat Day, Jerry Bailey, and John Velasquez
How to be successful as a jockey
Joe,
Your right on! Being successful in anything takes a keen mind, strong body and an attitude of "I'm the best and I will not quite, no matter what!"
I like your style and the way you take horse no one else wants to the lead and win, I love it. Good luck to you at Del Mar and Oak Tree.. Hope to meet you someday..
Good riding and Best of Luck!
