The Haskell Invitational is a race that is rich with tradition. Winners of the richest Invitational race in the country include: Majestic Light, Bet Twice, Forty Niner, Point Given, War Emblem, Coronado's Quest, Holy Bull, Skip Away, Serena's Song and Touch Gold.(All of these great horses can be found in our store for your enjoyment )
This year, Monmouth Park was able to draw the most talked about 3-year-old in the country, Big Brown(He is in our horse game you can own BIG BROWN if you buy the 2008 best 3 year olds and up horse file), who won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness before finishing up the track in his bid for the Triple Crown in the Belmont.
Other horses who will be attracting some attention will be Grade 2 winner Cool Coal Man, Todd Pletcher-trained Atoned and Grade 3 winner Magical Forest.
From a handicapping perspective, Big Brown looks very tough in this race with a morning line of 1-2. He drew right in the middle of the field with his number 4 post position, and the pace scenario looks good for him. Magical Forest should gun for the lead and Big Brown should be able to sit a perfect stalking trip right off that rival.
Without a bad post position or compromising pace scenario, a horse in this race will actually have to be better than Big Brown to win this race. I can't really see that happening. I will run the race threw our virtual game when we get it tomorrow and see how the computer has the race setting up. I know Michele (our VIP host ) said all the VIP members will have the race sometime friday to simulate and jockey as well. If you are not a VIP member to Horse Racing Fantasy what a great time to become one and get a lot of key future stake races to run for both handicapping and enjoyment purposes .
Selections
1. Big Brown
Looks awfully tough to beat in here. Anyone who had a shot to beat him just ran last Sunday in the Jim Dandy.
2. Cool Coal Man
Ran a really nice race over the track two back. Should be able to get back on track against these. Should round out the chalky exacta.
3. Magical Forest
Monmouth is notoriously a speed favoring track. Without too much early speed in here, this colt should be able to get away with moderate early fractions and might be able to hold on for a piece at a price.
The undercard on Haskell Day is always stacked, so be sure and take a look at Monmouth Park on Sunday, their signature day of racing.
Please remember the haskell is a prebuilt race that will be sent to all our VIP members in advance to enjoy .
