Jeff Lowich's Road to the Breeders' Cup Blog

My name is Jeff Lowich, I'm 26, and I'll be writing a blog on The Road to the Breeders' Cup. First, I just want to introduce myself. I grew up in New Jersey, marvelling at the beauty of Monmouth Park since the age of four. After getting my BS in Business Administration, I went to the University of Louisville for their Equine Administration post-grad program. I loved it there. During my stay in Louisville, I worked at Churchill Downs in their Twin Spires Club, their frequent player program. After that, I came back home to work at Monmouth Park, where I was a security guard in the winner's circle in the summer during college. Best job ever! I got a job in Publicity after grad school where my main function was to write handicapping comments and make picks in the program. After that, I worked in marketing, ran handicapping contests, worked in operations and finally admissions. Oh, and I worked at the Meadowlands during the off season at Monmouth a decent amount too.

Not that you really care (haha), but I figured if you're going to be reading my opinion on The Road to the Breeders' Cup, then you should know a little about me.

We'll start this up right after this weekend, after the races in Dubai and the Florida Derby.

Thanks for reading, and good luck!

Awesome!

I can't wait to read your opinions! Do you know Brad Thomas at Monmouth? I think he's one of the best handicappers out there, and his shades are great!

Cool!

I am also looking forward to seeing this. That's neat that they have schools for horse racing. The Dubai races should be really good I think. Curlin should win easy.

Thanks

Brad Thomas is a very good friend of mine. He is one of the most detailed handicappers I've ever met. In 2004, he and I were Monmouth's two track handicappers. It was an awesome experience.

And, yes, his shades are great - haha. He actually has to wear them because he had eye surgery and they can't be exposed to UV rays, and since all of his TV spots are shot outside at Monmouth, he has to wear them.

Thanks for reading.

Jeff

Dubai

I agree with you about Dubai. The races should be great. I'm really looking forward to them. I think Curlin should win and the his poor post position draw shouldn't cause too much trouble for him on that racetrack, however, I would look for a nice price for second. Happy Boy and Premium Tap look like love longshots.
