There wasn't too much going on last weekend, but the one horse who caught my eye is probably pretty obvious.
The Peter Pan
Casino Drive beat a fairly talented field of up-and-comers in the Peter Pan. He relaxed nicely off of moderate fractions and simply destroyed this field in the stretch. This horse has so many intriguing story lines it's tough to figure out which one to talk about first. He went into the Peter Pan off of one race in Japan, a crushing 11-length maiden win. After that domination, they decided to ship him to the states and point him for the Belmont Stakes. Why point him for the Belmont you ask? Well, his older half brother is Jazil, winner of the 2006 Belmont Stakes. Oh yeah, and his older half sister is 2007 Belmont Stakes winner Rags to Riches. Not to mention the fact that his sire is Mineshaft who was a monster at a route of ground on the racetrack...and Minshaft's sire is A.P. Indy who won the Belmont Stakes and Breeders' Cup Classic in 1992. Should I go on? How about one more? A.P. Indy's dam-sire is Secretariat, who won the Triple Crown (which obviously includes the Belmont Stakes) in 1973. So, let's just say Casino Drive is bred for the Belmont.
Can he win the Belmont off of only two starts is the question? He certainly was impressive in his Peter Pan win, and was never challenged while breaking his maiden. I would certainly give him a shot in the Belmont, and he'll probably be trying to prevent a triple crown winner, since Big Brown doesn't have too much to beat in the Preakness.
Good luck, and thanks for reading.

Wouldn't it be amazing if the same mare produced the Belmont winner three years running? I mean it would be ridiculous!
yes
That would be one of the most incredible accomplishments in the history of this sport. Heck, producing the Belmont winner two years in a row was incredible enough!
