The highly-talented Quality Road will be racing this weekend trying to achieve his first two-turn stakes victory outside of Gulfstream Park. Expect Quality Road to be the heavy favorite in the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes Saturday at Saratoga. The competition is not exactly the toughest, and Quality Road should score an easy victory as summer racing winds down at Saratoga.

In addition, some of the best 2-year-old filles will race Sunday in the Grade 1 Spinaway. There are some really talented 2-year-old fillies out there. Right about now, some of them are really coming into form. The 2-year-old fillies are so unpredictable, you just might see a long-short hit the finish line first. On Labor Day, in the Grade 1 Hopeful, look for some of the best juvenile colts in the country. This highlights the final day of racing at Saratoga. Overall this weekend, Saratoga is loaded with stakes action. Hopefully the weather will be good along with the expected quality of racing.

Saratoga Raceway has always been one of my favorite destinations, and closing weekend at one of the nation's oldest racetracks is always a treat. Jockeys, trainers and owners battle it out for top positions in their respective standings. My understanding is, from a betting perspective, that this year's Saratoga Summer Meet was pretty much flat. In this down economy and slowly shrinking industry, that might not be so bad.

Let's put all the political issues aside and enjoy the final closing weekend at Saratoga. Hopefully Quality Road will fire, adding even more anticipation for the upcoming Breeders' Cup races at Churchill Downs.
