Yes, It's The Ultimate Challenge in Virtual Horse Racing Games, Our Trainer Game (But Please Stop Whining!)

If it was easy, it wouldn't really be worth your time, would it? I keep hearing people talk about career-mode games where you basically sit around your kitchen table and play by yourself. You can set up anything you want so you can win every race that you wish. Not really brain-challenging. Our trainer game has so many elements of skill that if you really put the time into it, you can become a master - the dominator, our community god! I'm already starting to see some trainers slowly beginning to dominate. While others are yapping away, there are a handful of guys quieting gathering data and getting ready to crush. Let's review just a drop of the data that's available.

Of course there's the breeding - the sire and dam listings. There you can get some good insight on the top sires and dams, but to find your true champion, you need to go deeper. What sire and dams are producing not only winners, but winners at certain distances and winners that are more consistent than others? There is truly enough data out there now so some interesting patterns are starting to develop.

Obviously, the higher the entry fee in tournaments, the better quality horses show up. We're starting to see what you can truly expect when moving your virtual horse from in-game play to community tournament play. Here you can get a true understanding of what to expect in performance changes, including speed rating variations, consistency ratings and other factors.

Some barns don't have a clue. You can look at the charts of their horses and see that there are quite a few talented horses out there that are just crying out for a different distance or different track surfaces. Once the auction program starts, there will be some great buying opportunities, I'm sure. One thing I can tell you - some of the best horses already out there have either not yet raced, have been retired or have been entered in races with conditions that do not suit them favorably. I just want to pick up the phone, call these owners/trainers and say "Hello - is anybody home? What are you doing with this fantastic thoroughbred?"

By no means is this game simple, but here is what I can tell you. Work hard, work smart and unlock the secret to your talented horses. Over their racing career, millions of community points can be made. That's not bad for a 20,000 community point investment.

Anybody who has obtained a name for himself, whether in sports, business or even horse racing as a trainer or jockey, did not get there overnight. They had plenty of "Oops, I made a mistake" days before they began to bear the fruit of their great success and that was only after trial and error and their hard efforts coupled with a strong will to succeed. Over the next couple of months, there will be several spectacular barns evolve. I would name some of them now, but that's not what I'm here to do. Some of these guys will evolve in a way that far exceeds any player's expectations in this game. I have no doubt that we will have our first 10 million community point winner from the trainer game sometime early next year. And, it will probably be a year or so after that when we'll have our first 100 million community point winner and the sky's the limit from there. Because, once you "get it", it will come like second nature and that's a day I look forward to seeing. My only question is, who is it that I will see - you or the stable next to yours?

I agree 100%

What a great post. I'm a patient man and have some improving youngsters that I expect to develop into good ones before too long.
Geez, I hate to hear grown men cry. This is such a great game, improving all the time with great graphics and definetly (sp) great programmers. What do some expect for nothing.
Watch my horse go for the win on Tuesday 23 June 2009 in the, Charles Barkely Grade 3 at 9 furlongs on synthetic surface. He's done very well in two of the tournament races. If he wins the Barkely, I'm confident of a good showing in the Grade 1 Breeders Cup race.
This is my best horse and I'm expecting a good future with him.
Let me tell you a short story about another horse that I'm expecting to do well. I won't tell you his name now, but the sire was a Triple Crown winner. The broodmare was to be bred to him in real life, but she died unexpectedly. So no breeding. Until now.
I chose these two for my first breeding. More on my horse later and who the stallion and broodmare was. Watch the Charles Barkley and look for soundofrum stable. You're going to see a nice horse that loves the synthetic surface and the distance. He had a nice 3rd in a Grade 1 race so I'm dropping him down to grade 3 for the victory. Same distance. same surface. Please root for me.

Whining?

It has always been interesting to me that when a person lodges what they consider a legitimate complaint which another disagrees with they are said to be "whining", but when the one in opposition does the same they are just expressing an opinion. Over the past few weeks I have sent complaints to support in regard to one specific issue and after no reply at all frustration set in and I ended my last e-mal with an uncharacteristic "thanks for nothing"......Trust me that isn't whining. Lastly I consider that the trainer game is really more of an owners game.
Having said all that I do understand that my opinion means nothing....lol

I agree with everything

I agree with everything here. The only thing I think should be noted is the difference between a whiney " It's too hard!" and a legitamate " I don't think that's right." Listening to the latter is a good way--I think--to improve an already great game. Of course, distinguishing the two can be tricky sometimes.
Now, about stables. I was reading a post the other day about stable size and how that can really make a difference in the win percentage. The smaller the stable, the easier it is to keep, and the more intuned you are with your horses like and dislikes, and how if you do the research, like you said, you can have a great stable with a maximum profit. I had a four horse stable, but the Breeder's Cup points that I hope are coming from my other, better horses didn't come soon enough, and I had to retire my filly when her stable fees came.
Great piece, and have a good rest of the day!

Could only get better

This, in my opinion, is the best simulated thoroughbred horse race game out there. I've seen and played a lot. If there's a better horse race game than this, where is it? And, especially the great graphics? The great telephone support.
For someone to suggest that the HRF programmers are so bad that they should stand in the unemployment line and seek a different job
doesn't sit well with me. Yes, this was a post started by a recent member.
These folks are terrific programmers who are working hard behind the scenes, trying to please all of us, while at the same time, support their family. If the game and everything about the game is so bad to some, why not search elsewhere for something better. Good Luck.
I'm here for the stay and I bury my roots deep.

Just a Question

Can anyone explain why we cannot earn, at least a min. amount of, comm. points in every race. As it is we pay a lot of entry fees without a chance of any return.
