If it was easy, it wouldn't really be worth your time, would it? I keep hearing people talk about career-mode games where you basically sit around your kitchen table and play by yourself. You can set up anything you want so you can win every race that you wish. Not really brain-challenging. Our trainer game has so many elements of skill that if you really put the time into it, you can become a master - the dominator, our community god! I'm already starting to see some trainers slowly beginning to dominate. While others are yapping away, there are a handful of guys quieting gathering data and getting ready to crush. Let's review just a drop of the data that's available.
Of course there's the breeding - the sire and dam listings. There you can get some good insight on the top sires and dams, but to find your true champion, you need to go deeper. What sire and dams are producing not only winners, but winners at certain distances and winners that are more consistent than others? There is truly enough data out there now so some interesting patterns are starting to develop.
Obviously, the higher the entry fee in tournaments, the better quality horses show up. We're starting to see what you can truly expect when moving your virtual horse from in-game play to community tournament play. Here you can get a true understanding of what to expect in performance changes, including speed rating variations, consistency ratings and other factors.
Some barns don't have a clue. You can look at the charts of their horses and see that there are quite a few talented horses out there that are just crying out for a different distance or different track surfaces. Once the auction program starts, there will be some great buying opportunities, I'm sure. One thing I can tell you - some of the best horses already out there have either not yet raced, have been retired or have been entered in races with conditions that do not suit them favorably. I just want to pick up the phone, call these owners/trainers and say "Hello - is anybody home? What are you doing with this fantastic thoroughbred?"
By no means is this game simple, but here is what I can tell you. Work hard, work smart and unlock the secret to your talented horses. Over their racing career, millions of community points can be made. That's not bad for a 20,000 community point investment.
Anybody who has obtained a name for himself, whether in sports, business or even horse racing as a trainer or jockey, did not get there overnight. They had plenty of "Oops, I made a mistake" days before they began to bear the fruit of their great success and that was only after trial and error and their hard efforts coupled with a strong will to succeed. Over the next couple of months, there will be several spectacular barns evolve. I would name some of them now, but that's not what I'm here to do. Some of these guys will evolve in a way that far exceeds any player's expectations in this game. I have no doubt that we will have our first 10 million community point winner from the trainer game sometime early next year. And, it will probably be a year or so after that when we'll have our first 100 million community point winner and the sky's the limit from there. Because, once you "get it", it will come like second nature and that's a day I look forward to seeing. My only question is, who is it that I will see - you or the stable next to yours?
