There are two announcements that everyone should see that affect our horse racing trainer game. First, sometime next week, we will eliminate the special bred horses. For those who don't understand what I'm referring to, there are several horses on the stallion and dam rosters who have special traits and a very large fluctuation in performance and ability. Originally the concept was to provide a little bit more excitement when a person owned one of those special trait horses. But, we learned that they led to confusion and, as time goes on, we see less and less of a demand for them. Therefore, it's time to get rid of them. All of the horses that are still identified as special bred horses including Safely Kept, Ta Wee, Candy Eclair, Ack Ack and Midnight Lute, will be changed and will perform like normal sires and dams in our game effective sometime next week. You will know the effective date because the notification on those sires and dams, letting you know that these are special trait horses, will be eliminated and replaced with our standard sire and dam verbiage.
New Classified Trainer Tournaments
As Puddles mentioned a couple of weeks ago, we're rolling out new types of trainer tournaments to help classify horses. These tournaments will carry special restrictions. Eligibility for these tournaments will be based upon a horse's past speed ratings on the same racing surface that the final Breeders' Cup race will occur For example, a tournament may be restricted to 2-year-old horses who have NOT exceeded a 105 speed figure rating on a dirt track. These speed ratings are the speed ratings that have occurred while your horse has performed in other tournaments, not in training races in your game. So, if your Horse ABC has a best speed rating figure on a dirt track of 104 and he meets all the other tournament qualifications (such as age), then he would be eligible for this tournament.
Here are a couple of things to remember. These tournaments will be marked with a giant R, meaning restricted by speed rating. These tournaments are not eligible for jackpot and super jackpot bonuses that will be implemented shortly. These tournaments will have a tendency to carry smaller purses or community point prize pools. The concept of these tournaments are to help smaller stables enjoy the ownership of virtual horse racing without trying to compete with the big barns who have the skill and bankroll to dominate. You'll see the first of these special tournaments as early as next week.
Puddles should have the rest of the update later on. Once we start with the special tournaments and the new classifications of horses, I'll be publishing weekly information to help players adjust to the additional oportunities the new horses offer as well as the best way to maximize your stable with the new types of nominated horses as well as the new types of tournaments, including restricted, jackpot and super jackpot, and of course, insta-tournaments, as well.
