Sunday, February 14 will be when the 2010 Daytona 500 will be run, and the start time will be 1 pm Eastern Daylight Time at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The coincidence that the 2010 renewal of what has been called "The Great American Race" falls on Valentine's Day, and that Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday in 2010, means that the 52nd running of this institution of American sports, which FOX will broadcast in it's entirety, could function as the centerpiece of a romantic day for many auto racing couples. Think of the possibilities: an average, auto racing loving couple from Indiana could get a cheap airfare, get a discount hotel rate from Priceline, find a good deal on a rental car from Orlando Airport, and have a very romantic weekend. The day of the race, they could perhaps get up at 6, go to an IHOP for a fantastic breakfast featuring mouthwatering buttermilk pancakes (or, if you ask them nicely, the silver dollar ten) and hot maple syrup. Some people like sausage and hashbrowns with their pancakes, some don't, so they will have that to figure out between them. The larger point is that they will have their breakfast while staring lovingly into each others' eyes, and will be primed and ready to watch the exciting racing action! No doubt this couple will be beer drinkers ('cause seriously, what big fans of auto racing have you ever known that didn't like beer?), and therefore they should probably take a cab from their hotel to the raceway. But guess what? Because it's Valentine's Day and that can lead to one thing leading to another, they might simply want to stay at their hotel, turn on their TV, tune it to FOX, who will be broadcasting the race, and then have some of their own, private, fun. Either way, the memories of 2010 Valentine's Day will never be far from their minds!
