Results for the Don Brumfield New Member Jockey Tournament that ended October 22 indicate that fair_and_square won the 75,000 community points awarded to the first place finisher! Congratulations, fair_and_square! Coming in second was ccfarm, who won 50,000 points. Both of these players did a great job.

Unfortunately, the other entrants in this tournament did not qualify. They either did not meet the initial qualifications for the tournament or did not run enough races as required by the tournament. It's a shame because some of these players showed real promise. Check out the qualifications carefully for each tournament before you enter, and once you do enter, make sure you run the minimum number of races to qualify in that tournament.

We recognized from the beginning that playing in our tournaments, jockey or betting, can be confusing even though we provide a detailed Tournament Entry Guide that can be found under the Game & Community Info tab from the left-hand navigation menu here in the community. With this said, here are the expected changes you will be seeing soon with our new virtual racing game and upgrade:

First, you will not be able to enter a tournament unless you're eligible. So, as long as you're logged into the community, as you scroll through the tournaments by date, they will be color-coded with either a button where you can enter or a reason why you cannot. This will eliminate the qualification issue for a lot of our members.

Next, on the main game screen of the upgrade version, you will see real time information sent to you regarding your tournament status. One of the most important pieces of information that will be included will be if you have run the minimum number of required races for the tournament - so you will not have to keep track of your race count. There will also be other messages shown as the tournaments proceed and reminder messages when a tournament ends with direct links to the scoring/result pages.

Currently, there are only house-generated tournaments (tournaments that management creates). Because our tournaments are based upon skill set (your ability in our game) and in order to keep the tournaments fair and keep the amount of racing action maximized for each player, we have implemented user-generated tournaments with our upgrade release so you, the players, can set limited parameters and build your own tournaments that can be open to the community or just your friends. These will be very fun and can turn over in as quickly as 30 minutes.

We're also building out full video tutorials so players can understand the tournaments, how they work, the best way to participate, the best way to get points (community points, which is our game currency) needed to enter these events. These video tutorials in conjunction with the current Help system we have and the more simplistic user interface for tournaments should really simplify the whole tournament process and make playing our virtual racing game a lot more fun.

Again, congratulations to fair_and_square and ccfarm!
