Stats and Stuff
I am pretty excited about this terrific day of racing (4/4)….cant wait to plant myself in front of the tv for 5 hours and later complete my trifecta of racing. Barn in the morning, tv this afternoon and HRF this evening
This morning I went and saw Frank the Barber for the first time. He had been in our barn 4 days and was going to the track for a jog for the first time. Not happy with what I found. He appears to be a somewhat neglected horse. His face was cut and scarred from his bridle and he lacked a lot of muscle around his midsection. I was told that when he arrived the bridle was so tight the underside was embedded in his head and the bottom covered with blood. Now maybe it was done so tight for the van ride across country, but why didn’t anyone check it and loosen it , it really looked like it was done before even the van ride, and today I can still see the impressions on his face. Some people really suck!
He was not happy going to the track. He seems to be fighting the jockey the whole time and when he came to the shoot on the track refused to move from that area. The trainer said that we have to change things up for this horse who is a little off mentally and get him happy again. We also had the doc go over him and she said that while he is very sound, he seems to be sore from a lot of work in short period of time.
Poor boy, we will make sure he gets happy before we start moving him forward. We have 45 days before we have the meet gets going and we must make sure he gets some TLC and gets things righted mentally and physically. Daily turnout and some extra food should put some muscle on him and make his mind focus. The good news is only one way to go but up with this guy! I actually am excited to see what a “tuned up” Frank can do in Jersey Company.
With the 2009 season about to kick off, I have high hopes for all our horses who are looking very good. I thought I would list my not so great owners stats at the beginning and compare them with the results at the end of the year! As you can see I bad horse races a lot more times than the good ones
