We’re turning for home. It looks like we’re down to two finalists for our New Racetrack Name Contest, although lately one of the finalists appears to be slowly drawing away and may be cruising to victory. If you haven’t voted, you have until Sunday, August 10, at midnight (tomorrow) to do so. At that point, one of our lucky finalists will win 50,000 community points. It’s still close enough to have your vote count, so what are you waiting for? Get in on the action. Make your voice heard. To participate in the contest, simply click on the Older Polls tab on the left navigation menu or search through my previous blog postings.
Again, we want to thank every participant in the contest. Every single name was good and rightfully deserved recognition. It makes me want to go out and really build a racetrack here in Las Vegas. For a little nostalgia, Las Vegas actually had two racetracks – both unsuccessful. There were some pretty famous horses that raced here including one famous little guy named Seabiscuit.. The only thing that remains now is a street named Racetrack Road out on the east side of Las Vegas. It’s a shame, because in this city of glitz and glamour and where gambling is a way of life, racing could not find a way to survive. I guess too many people are interested in the slot machines, blackjack tables and all the other forms of gambling offered here in Nevada.
Again, if you haven’t voted, I urge you to do so. Help someone win those 50,000 community points!
