Thursday we locked it down and it’s over. We’ve got the final five contestants in our Name the New Racetrack Contest, who will all receive 5,000 community points – congratulations! Now, there were some great entries and some pretty cool ideas. If we had the room, we’d ask the developers to build two racetracks so we could use more than just one of the names. (Yeah, right!) Our fictional racetrack will soon have a name. On Monday, I’ll be posting a poll with the five finalists and their brief description for the track name and why it was applicable to the concept of building a racing facility here in Las Vegas, NV, the gaming capital of the world.
On Monday, we’re going to put the voting in the hands of our community members who will decide who will win the 50,000 community points. So, go through the list below (shown in no particular order), start thinking it through and when that poll gets published, place your bets. Oops! Just a bad habit – I mean place your votes. Let’s get someone those 50,000 community points to pad their bankroll.
Blue Diamond Downs - Submitted by Rcknhrse - "The area around Blue Diamond Road might prove to be a good location." (Well, the location has already been chosen, but the name rocks!)
The Desert Oasis Downs - Submitted by Northernvoslfan - (He seemed just a wee bit miffed about our tease with this fantasy racetrack - showed he was 'into' the idea, though!) "Man, why did you tease me like that? Wrong, just bloody wrong. Got me all riled up."
Racino Royale Raceway - Submitted by Rickpa2008 - "You gotta love Bond!! Since race track and casino are combining, I figured I'd take a Bond movie, add a little racing to it and make it into a world class fantasy race track." (Shows some clever thought in coming up with this classy name.)
EquiDome - Submitted by Joeyzee - "A domed, indoor track for equine sports...pretty obvious to me." (Yeah, it fits and IS pretty obvious.)
Champagne Park - Submitted by Ronwar - "It captures both the sophistication and glitz of Las Vegas and the celebratory nature of racing." (Just felt very "Vegas" and certainly is celebratory - good champagne is ALWAYS celebratory!)
Again, thanks to all the people who entered. Great job! Lots of fun. Let’s keep the spirit of racing alive. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
