So, I was sitting here watching Joe post his blog. He thinks he's funny because he talks about me wearing pink all the time. What can I tell you? I love pink, all the way to my pink tennis shoes. It's just a girl thing. Hey, I even noticed on the home page of our community that Kent Desormeaux is wearing a pink helmet. That should have been me. Though our colors for our game and community are basically blue and gold, I thought pink would make a big difference and stand out. And, it has! People ask me all the time, "What is JockeyPower.com?" I tell them it's where I hang out and where all my friends are.
The next time I'm on the track and I'm about to pass by Joe as we run through the stretch, I think I'll look over my shoulder and say, "Hey, Joe, who is that who just passed you? Oh, yeah, it's the girl in pink. See you back in the jocks' room."
I've relocated from Canada to California and I must say that I'm loving it, especially this time of the year. Although today was a little chilly outside, I warm right up thinking about those below-freezing days when I would gallop horses in the morning. Anyway, when you come out to Santa Anita or Del Mar and you see me, please don't be afraid to say hello and I, too, would love to have my picture taken with you. I think of this community as a family and love being part of it. Write me back and let me know who my fellow jockeys are.
Thanks,
Chantal
Haha, I LOVE pink too! Actually, I'm wearing a pink sweater right now (it's no joke)! As you said, it must be a girl thing...:) Anyways, I've never heard of JockeyPower.com, but I'll have to check it out. And perhaps I could do a little advertising myself.
You're SO lucky! I'd be awesome to live in California..perhaps I will someday. Cute joke in the middle about passing Joe on the track.
Talk to ya soon,
Kayla
hi iam from australia, i have noticed there are more and more female riders these days and there out doing the boys. Is that also the case in the us.
If you ever come here to Michigan, I have a feeling those pink sweaters will come in handy! Thanks for replying back to my previous comment.
Kayla
P.S. I feel so silly...I typed in JockeyPower.com and realized it was just another name that takes you to our website, Horse Racing Fantasy. Sometimes I think I'm in another world...
Will you marry me?
I gave you a few mounts on a horse I owned up at Woodbine.
You wore my colors black and gold with the fleur de lis.
Do you remember my name or the gelding you rode?
I love pink to but i blues my favorite color. One day i was riding a horse and i had a pink water bottle and i couldnt do ANYTHING right
I am known as the under armour chick! haha I've never been big on pink but I'm obsessed with under armour and wear it every time I'm out on the track, so now that's what they call me! I think the boys just get jeoulous sometimes that the girls can hang tough with them! Congrats on the move down to Cali. I love the new series "jockey" premiering this friday...I've already watched a few episodes online! I wish I was riding in Santa Anita. I'm currently attending the North American Racing Academy and plan on graduating in 2010 and spending my intern in Cali or Florida down at Gulfstream. I'll prolly start my racing career back home in Louisiana...since that's where I have all my connections. I wanted to wish you luck this meet and pass joe and show him how the girls ride!
you are my favorite female jockey. and mike smith and joe are my fav male jockeys. since i was 3 i wanted to become a jockey. when jockeys came out on t.v i became even more interested in becoming a jockey. i was wondering how did you get into the jockey world? i also love pink lol ♥
hi my name is yorvis26 i am new and i dont know how to play cant you say me how to star the carrer of jockeys pleaseeeee.
<>< Pinks my Favorite color! I just wanted to say I think your an incredible Jockey. I think girls make better jockeys!!! I watch Jockeys every Friday! I wana be a jockey!!! The trill of being in incredible horses makes my heart flutter.
What made you want to become a Jockey?
Do you have horses that you bond with an respond to you better?
I'm not too hot about pink, blue or green are my colors (I'm more of a tom boy, what can I say?) I'm also a big fan of under armor, it's going to come in handy riding up in Kentucky during those cold months! I'll tell you something, the girls are definitely catching up with the boys! I haven't met everyone who's applied, but many of the jockey students going to NARA this fall are women. Who knows, maybe we'll outnumber the boys this year!
I hope to meet you one day Chantal. Maybe I'll race in California later on, then we can really show the boys what girls are made of!:)

Yes, I am terrible at being a gansta, but thats what I get from living in NoSco. Anyways, I think it is awesome that you are so good and you have really inspired me to work harder. I don't like homework, it always distracts me from stuff like this. California! 10 days! You don't know what I'm talking about! This is fun. Go out there and kick some butt! I will soooo have to find you at the track some day. Now I need a ride there...

If you ever come to Arizona, especially near Phoenix, you won't need the sweaters ever! Not in either season, Summer and Winter(roughly 2 weeks of that). If it's summer, you will need as little clothes as possible, yet I still wear jeans. It makes me feel special. Right, homework

i am sort of sorry because if you read your comments you saw me write to leave joe alone sorry but what can i say he is nice and awsome and mad cute i wish he did not have a girl friend so i can give him my number. also i do not like pink
Mmmk redman thats kinda how do i say this... CREEPY. asking a woman to marry u over the internet.that's wat i call desparate!really at least ask her in person not on a virtual game.
Hey She Doesn't have 2!if he thinks he's all cool talkin bout a better jockey than he obviosly has some sort of brain damage!
I respect female riders and many have more skills than male riders and twice the guts.. I've seen some female riders take nasty spills while watching races and they come back the next race to ride again, I think It's awesome to see that kind of determination...
i think you are so right . take juile krown for example horses steped on her chest and she raced the next day.also if jerry baily did not give her a cest gard she would of died
you are right the boys should be scared by this time next year they will be begging us to stop racing
PS if Joe Talamo is reading this i love you and never like it when you loose.i am a tom boy like a boy in my freashman year called me a boy .
I'm a HUGE fan Chantal! I loved watching "Jockeys" on animal planet and wish you guys would do more episodes for the series. I wanna be a jockey myself someday. But my mom's sayin' it will be hard because of my leg disability. I love horses and have a way with them but I still don't know if I will be good when I'm older. This's my dream, Chantal! I'm so confused about it! Help!!!!!!!
It is amazing because female riders can most always get up and from a nasty spill of than male that usually get injured and leave.
Mike Smith is my favorite jockey. I watched jockeys last year and that is what got me into horse racing. Lots of people are wondering what NTRA stands for. This is what it stands for, national throughbred racing association. Go Mike Smith!
Starzagazin: Pink is a power color. Look around you, men who wear pink are always self-assured, confident, competent and comfortable with their maleness. Tell the guys, PINK will HELP THEM WIN and give away tiny free PINK ribbons and tell them they work best if they are stuffed in their underwear. You would be surprised at who would take them. Just a woman who loves horses, Jack Russells, and the Backstretch! Your fan, Margo
Talamo is just a youngster growing up........but good finisher in the stretch......he hits the line hard like they say in Austrailian Racing.....
The first female jocks I bet were Mary Bacon , than Robyn Smith, and than Julie at Monmouth Park......
Hi Ms Sutherland,
Looking forward to seeing you on some fine horses this season. I see more sakes winners on your horizon, and hope I have the bets down when you cross the finish line. Stay safe & win!!
Julius
