No, we haven't forgotten about that special race for our VIPs. The $100,000 River City Handicap is headed your way. This one-and-one-eighth mile turf race for 3-year-olds and older has shaped up to be a wonderful event. The favorite, the gray speedster Thorn Song, is attempting a repeat of last year when he won the River City Handicap. Riding Thorn Song will be Robby Albarado. Our own game and community member/blogger, Kent Desormeaux, will be riding one of the challengers who will try their best to thwart Thorn Song's bid for victory. Kent will be riding Star Plus, a Group I stakes winner from Argentina. Also capturing attention is Steve’s Double, who enters coming off consecutive stakes victories. Filling out the field are Yate's Black Cat, Mr. Sidney, Pleasant Strike, Karelian, Just As Well, Telling, Demarcation and Canela.

We think you will enjoy this race, and whether you jockey, bet or just watch this event, you may learn the identity of the winner well before the race is run Saturday, November 22!
