Our VIP Race of the Week Is a Dream Come True! The Dream Filly & Mare Invitational
Well, our ingenious race builder has come up with a very special race-of-the-week for our VIPs this week. Talk about racing with the champions! This race has the most amazing contenders facing off against each other - Azeri, Beautiful Pleasure, Eight Belles, Island Fashion, Rags to Riches, Riboletta, Sightseek and Zenyatta!
Our VIPs are going to have an absolute blast with this race. Jockey, bet or just watch - whatever you do, it will be a true pleasure to see this race unfold. These eight lovely ladies are all here to win - no doubt about it! Watch Zenyatta, this year's Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic winner, face off against Azeri, the Eclipse Award winner for Horse of the Year in 2002. Azeri was often called "Honeybear" by her handlers because, contrary to the norm in thoroughbred race horses, she was so gentle and docile. Docile, however, she was not on the racetrack. See her compete in this race against Sightseek, the mare she trounced in the Go Forward Wand at Saratoga in 2002. And, don't forget Eight Belles, given another chance to show her 'stuff' and race with these amazing ladies. I doubt she will let anyone get the best of her without a commanding battle. I could go on and on about all of these amazing ladies.

Such courage.
I ran this race a handful of times as a spectator only. I was impressed how Riboletta and Azeri would always lock up in a speed duel down the lane. Head, neck and nose. They managed to beat each other, narrowly, in the different races.
I have to admit, I didn't know who Riboletta was. If I once did, I forgot about him.
Anyway what a horse. Same for Azeri. They both are fast, classy horses and showed much courage in their battles to the wire. I did a search and discovered that Riboletta was from Brazil and won 13 of her 28 races, several being grade 1 stakes races.
Eight Belles always made a terrific charge from far back, late in the race and finished close up. Usually third.
In my first race, I rode Rags To Riches ( Belmont Stakes winner, over, Curlin ) and finished about fifth, or sixth in a six horse blanket finish. In The final 1/4 mile I tried to follow Eight Belles through what looked like an opening along the rail. Well the hole never opened up, costing both of us any chance at the victory. Nice try though.Eight Bells was running through horses final 1/16 mile to land a well deserved third. Rags To Richs and Eight Belles came from the clouds.
