The 2010 Arlington Million field will be comprised of a total of 10 horses with Gio Ponti as the betting favorite. The defending champion, Gio Ponti, is trained by Christopher Clement and will be piloted by Ramon Dominguez. He is in top form with a win in his last race in the Grade 1 Man O’ War at Belmont in July. Just As Well will have a say in the outcome in the race and is last year’s runner up in the Million behind Gio Ponti. The field includes three European horses: Tazeez, who ran a great third in the G1 Prince of Wales Stakes, Summit Surge, who has been running very well in Grade 2 company over there, and Debussy, who has been defeated by both Tazeez and Summit Surge over in Europe. Also in the 10-horse field are General Quarters, who disappointed last time out in the Arlington Handicap, and longshots Quite a Handful, and Tajaweed. Rahystrada caused a mild upset in the Arlington Handicap in his last race, defeating Just as Well and Tazeez, as well as Marsh Side.
Well, VIPs, do you think Gio Ponti can win the Arlington Million again this year and become one of only two horses who have ever accomplished that feat? It should be fun to run this race a few times to help you determine if that is a possibility.
