2012 Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct Starts Off the Racing Weekend for Our VIPs

Saturday's Grade 2, $200,000 Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct features a cast of 7 three year olds. The Lumber Guy and Term Loan will battle on the lead. The Lumber Guy has more stakes experience having won a minor stakes at Laurel and most recently a dull fifth in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial. This 1 mile distance may be more ideally suited to him. Term Loan is a frontrunner too and is coming off a big maiden win, but has never tried competition this talented before and this will be the test for him. Brigand is coming off a second in a tough allowance win and showed some talent as a two year old last summer. Stirred Up got third in the Grade 3 Sunland Derby and hopes his class can take him to the winners circle in an easier spot today. Right to Vote might be a little out of his preferred distance range but he did get third in the Grade 1 Champagne to top Derby contender Union Rags. Though he faded in the last furlong, he might have the class to top these today. Dan and Sheila and Adirondack King round out the field.
