The $250,000 Grade 2 Santa Maria Handicap has been selected by Life is Sweet, coming off her $2-million Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic win in October, to make her 2010 debut. She is entered against eight rivals including Mushka who finished second to her in that race, and certainly has a chance to turn the tables. A lot of support will be given to newcomer St. Trinians who just won the non-graded Paseana stakes by almost 4 lengths over My Baby Baby (also entered in this race), earning a 102 Beyer Speed Figure. Pretty Unusual won the G2 El Encino two starts back, so she could hit the board though the top prize will require a career best. Zardana is coming off a nice win in the G2 Bayakoa Handicap at Hollywood in December with a 96 Beyer. Once Upon a Grace and Czechers round out the field.
