The big race of the day is the Grade 2, $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont Park, a nine-furlong event.
If Mark Valeski can run back to his nose loss in the Grade 2 Risen Star he will be tough to beat. The Lumber Guy didn't do well at 9 furlongs in the Wood, but came back to win the Grade 2 Jerome at Belmont wire to wire, so he may have some distance limitations, but among a field not as strong as the Wood he might have enough to get it done. Good Morning Diva and Big Screen are the one two finishers from the $150,000 Calder Derby, and look to be fairly even in ability. Le Bernardin is coming off a nice allowance win and now steps up in class. Master Rick is an interesting up-and-coming horse who earned a best last-out speed figure of 99, winning the $98,000 Northern Spur at Oaklawn and is looking for his third straight. Teeth of the Dog finished third in the Wood and was gaining on the leaders at the end. Summer Front finished second most recently in the Grade 2 Lexington and prior to that won three straight. Zetterholm, Right to Vote, Hakama, and Street Life complete the lineup.
