The G2 Tampa Bay Derby features a field of 9 runners who will go 1-1/16 miles. This features the much anticipated stakes debut of the highly regarded Verrazano, and was the top individual betting choice in the second Kentucky Derby Future Wager of 2013. He was a runaway 16-length winner in his last, which was an allowance race, but did so in such an impressive manner that he just might be everything they say he is. Honorable Dillon will likely be overlooked but is very talented. The gray horse won the G2 Hutchenson by a 1/2 length last out and certainly merits consideration. Purple Egg is an intriguing longshot who is undefeated, and most recently won a 6-furlong stakes at Tampa Bay, and being proven over the same surface he will run over Saturday is a plus. Falling Sky and Dynamic Sky were separated by just a neck in the Sam Davis on Feb 2nd. They seem to be very evenly matched so trip may be the key here. Eton Blue, Java's War, Offlee Fast, and Park City complete the lineup.
