The big story at the 2009 $200,000 Grade 2 Dwyer Stakes at Belmont Park is Calvin Borel choosing to ride Warrior's Reward, who has not yet won his first stakes race. Borel would nt provide a commitment that he would ride Mine That Bird in the West Virginia Derby on August 1, so he was pulled by Mine That Bird's connections. August 1 is the same day as the Jim Dandy at Saratoga and plans are to race Warrior's Reward in that race. So, Calvin Borel is putting all his eggs in Warrior's Reward's basket. Just Ben, capturing a 13-3/4 length allowance win on Belmont Stakes Day and American Dancer, half-brother to Saint Liam who was 2005 Horse of the Year will be big challengers to Warrior's Reward's plans for victory. Completing the field are Masala, Kensei and Sunday Sunrise.
Okay, VIPs, try your hand at Warrior's Reward or American Dancer or even Just Ben to see who can predict will take the 2009 Dwyer Stakes victory. This should help put a few fireworks in your 4th of July weekend.
We would encourage all of our non-VIP members to seriously consider becoming a VIP now so they can receive all the great major stakes events coming throughout the summer and fall months. In addition to all these great pre-built races, our VIPs get so many great benefits.
The VIP benefits go on and on, from the VIP Lounge to private tournaments to access to special upcoming horse racing events and let's not forget that beautiful badge that all the VIPs wear - the badge that says you're serious about winning and having fun in our horse racing community. Hope to see you as a new VIP soon!
Enjoy the races, VIPs! We also hope you enjoy your families and the opportunity to celebrate our nation's independence day. Happy 4th of July!
