A general trainer tournament that completed last night, Friday, Jan. 13, ended up being a lucky night for top trainer Ronwar. We quietly added a 700,000 VIP tournament bonus payout. The only way someone could have obtained that 700,000 bonus payout was to win the actual tournament with a fully-nominated horse.
It's amazing how times flies. Another year has gone by and here we are, once again, about to spend some time together with family and friends.
Today I was told that our former friend and beloved fellow community member, vasdef 's (Rick Daniels) legacy will live on. His son, Rick Jr., who lives in Southern California, is going to take over his father's stable. Rick Jr.
Today I heard back from Rick's brother, Terry Daniels, who was very appreciative of all the kind comments to my blog published the other day. When I asked him what we can do, Terry was very humble and wasn't really sure. I suggested that the community might want to help with the funeral costs. If you would like to participate, please send your contributions directly to Rick's mother.
Early this afternoon I received a phone call telling me that one of our most beloved players and a friend to everyone on this site passed away in a truck accident. I've known Rick Daniels for over three years. Vasdef, as he's known in the community, was a true leader. Good times, bad times, he always found a way to make the community and our game a very special place.
Since I posted the thread on Sunday about the new game enhancements, there has been a lot of feedback- some public; some private. I am going to list some of the areas of concern from some players. The problem I'm seeing is just what I indicated. Everyone is looking at the game and the changes on how they specifically affect their level of play.
Tonight we will identify the winners of our first monthly Most Trainer Tournament Wins categories. Congratulations to all the players winning a designated category. These enormous prizes really give trainers something to target.
First let me focus on enhancements and changes specifically tied to the trainer game portion. These changes offer more opportunities for players to race their horses and increase their stable size, which can provide more racing excitement and more opportunities to win.
Sometime between now and January 1st, the monthly VIP membership program will go up to $14.95 per month. This will only affect new VIP members who join after the price increase. Any VIP member who is active and continues to remain active with no interruption of their VIP service will be grandfathered into the current $9.95 price.
There has been quite a bit of posting in the forums lately about the classification system. There is no doubt that winning in the General Tournaments definitely requires good horses in addition to finding the best possible spots (including distance, racetrack and track condition) for your horses.
