I thought this was a good subject to write about because, obviously, being the last day of the year, it's a great time to look back at your accomplishments (or in horse racing, victories) as well as defeats, and evaluate what you've learned, what you've succeeded at and, of course, what you can do better. The fact that I won my third Kentucky Derby was a big accomplishment for me.

Some people say I'm a little cocky and a little conceited. I just say I'm talented. Just like other sports, the top players (or athletes) are sometimes perceived to be a little conceited. The truth is, I'm just confident. What can I say?

Throughout my career, I have been privileged to jockey some of the best racehorses around. Obviously, this year I was able to ride Big Brown – who took me to my third Kentucky Derby win. And even though I fell short of the Triple Crown in 2008, jockeying Big Brown was an incredible experience.
